Not sure when these originally came out, but does anyone own these? If so, how are their composition (cheap, elegant)? I'm considering purchasing them and wanted to know if anyone had any input.

I own them both.
They are made from steel, but unlike most of Museum Replica's amoury, the steel grade is not high enough to hold an edge (translation, you sharpen it and try to cut something, you'll damage the blade). Both blades are painted with a powder coat. Detail about the blades: Storm Shadow: The sword is painted almost completely white with the exception that the bevel/edge portion of the blade is exposed steel (which you must keep oiled, otherwise it will rust over time if you display it) and the Ninja clan symbol near the halberd. Both the blade and the tip are dull. The tang runs all the way through to the hilt and has a tightening truss nut. The halberd is circular and has a hollowed out cobra symbol. At the base of the handle are 2 cast cobra heads. The blade is amazingly well balanced and could easily be used by one hand! If it could hold an edge it would be perfect for iai-do. My only real complaint is that I wish that they wrapped the handle instead of casting it in steel. Snake-Eyes: The sword is painted almost completely black with the exception that the edge portion (about an 1/8th of an inch wide) of the blade is exposed steel (which you must keep oiled, otherwise it will rust over time if you display it) and the Ninja clan symbol near the halberd. The Halberd is rectangular with 2 wings surrounding a star, as well, where the blade meets the halberd, there is a metal band with a snake symbol. The handle is odd shaped, being notched at the top and comes to a vulture/dragon type head at the bottom. The Blade is dull, but the TIP IS VERY SHARP! (I've actually accidentally impaled my arm with it when I bumped into it - went in a good half inch!). It is very top heavy (the sword is a chopper/cleaver not a cutter - like comparing a Chinese broadsword to a Chinese gim/straightsword). Both the balancing and the handle makes this sword not conducive to single hand usage; but using a proper two-handed grip one would use with a katana, the sword would cut fluidly if it could hold an edge. Basically, this sword is EXACTLY like that found in the DVD 4-pack #4 (the Snake-eyes, Quick kick, Cobra commander, Major Bludd), except being all black. For those interested, I could send some pics. PM me if interested. |

I still need the Storm Shadow one. I paid $175 for my SE one when it came out, so if they are a lot cheaper than that now, please PM me the link!
