The straight "good vs evil" gets lost when you add in the Sith race.
An entire race of people brought up on Dark Side teachings can't be pure evil or else they wouldn't be a threat because they'd spend so much time fighting eachother. Ruthless, selfish, rash, angry. All that, but not pure evil. I've never been a straight "black vs white" fan anyways. Of course, not every member of the Sith Race was force-sensitive, either. It effectively becomes just like Palpatine's Empire: A ruling class of Force-Users who constantly battle amongst themselves for supremacy, and a working class of non Force-Users who basically keep the whole thing from falling apart while skirting around the whims of their ofttimes capricious and downright irrational rulers, or trying to avoid being caught up in their power struggles while they tend to the day-to-day business of keeping the Empire running. Every so often a leader shows up who is powerful and smart enough to keep everyone else in check (thus minimizing the infighting and preventing the implosion) but yes, ultimately the Sith's evil and self-serving philosophies lead to their own demise, practically like clockwork. Ludo Kressh and Naga Sadow's conflict destroyed the "Golden Age of the Sith." Ulic Qel-Droma turning on Exar Kun led to Kun's defeat. Malak turning on Revan eventually led to Malak's defeat. The Sith Triumvirate turning on Darth Traya ultimately led to their defeat. The Sith pretty much always set themselves up for failure because of their infighting and struggle for power amongst each other, or at the very least their propensity for betrayal. I'm thinking more of the current "Sith" race in the current novels, not the actual Sith race from millenia ago.
They're nto inherently evil, but follow Dark Side teachings. Although, they're making Vestara lean to much towards the Light Side for my tastes and telegraphing a future relationship with Ben. I've only read 3 or 4 of the novels.

Yeah, I have to get back into the books and finish out the series.
Like the previous one, I lose interest and have to force myself through them. I don't like the 9 book series idea.

Well, supposedly they're getting away from the "multi-author mega arc" model after this series is done.

I can deal with the trilogies. Denning's bug one was pretty good. And I do like that they are all connected. But I want some one and dones again.
