You need to hurry up and buy the house, so you can have a basement or attic to shove all of this stuff in, and you'll have years of enjoyement before it gets too full. Then you'll move to a bigger house.

I've dealt with this several times before. I've gotten to the point where I just really want to keep a few things. I also have a few monetary goals in mind that don't involve toys. I have found that when I buy stuff just to buy stuff, it's too much. I also vowed never to buy stuff I didn't have room to display. I don't want to own something just for the sake of being able to say "I own it".

i know what you mean! my wife and i are looking to move and in order to sell the house and move i have to streamline my collection. i honestly still have a good amount of stuff from when i was a kid but have lost interest in the original figures. the 25th figure actually got me back into joe so i am selling off all my old stuff. as i go through everything i see my childhood slipping away. i guess you have to grow up sometime but it still hurts :(

ya your all done, even if you sell a bunch of your stuff, you will back fill its with new stuff. I have tried to get out of it so many times. It never happens. Specially with the new movie figures coming up, more to buy. But good luck in trying to down size.

Been there, done it and regretted as well. I had to sell my entire collection a couple years ago but I've gotten some of it back since. No matter what, you never get out of it what you invested.
Now I rotate my stuff like the seasons. I display my snow serpents and such in the winter and by May, they sit in the back of the closet. Rotating keeps it fresh for me and its almost like Christmas when I rotate and rediscover old friends. Once I figured out the storing problem it makes the hobby much more enjoyable and I don't have have buyers/sellers remorse. I'm one that doesn't buy every figure, just the ones that interest me or I feel I can tell a story with (dio's and such). The ten year old has pretty much shifted to displaying his stuff now too and is always excited when I rotate my fig/vehicles because it gives him fresh ideas as well. For storage I use delivery totes like these: stackable, very durable and easy to carry. |

i go back and forth with this as well...
before PoC wave 5&6 i was done, and going to sell everything, vintage and all. then i decided to just keep the 25th and newer, sell the vintage and MOC collection. now im back to collecting, and thinking of selling all the vintage, and new vehicles, and only collect figures. who knows what i will decide once retaliation figs hit. i guess its a good thing i already own a home.
