Outside of Australia, I don't get the impression biker gangs are particularly topical now days, especially the madmax esc thing the dreads have going on.
So how would you want to see them updated to be current and/or have more kid appeal? I'd like to see them as gangsta. Might not go down well with everyone, and the changes would need to be extreme, but I could see fun being had with it. |

Biker gangs still exist.
In my area we have the Outlaws and the Hell's Angels are huge, they have a chapter house in my state and can see 'em all over the place in Laconia at Bike Week. But yes, the 'Noks need an update. Not gangbangers. Stay with the biker gang, just make them more modern and less flamboyant.

gangsta??? hahhaha!
wow so take them from being movie rip offs to racial stereotypes. they can easily be updated as well as keep their classic look its just the matter of chopping off a ponytail or mohawk here and there. mute the colors. gangsta is about as threatening as a boy band. choppers are more popular now than they were in the 80's |

I'd be cool with them being updated. Maybe they could be a gang of thugs where each one is a different archetype. One is a biker, another is a pirate, a gang banger, car jacker like in Fast 5, and so forth and so on. The Dreadnoks could be the criminals of Cobra.

The Dreadnoks would lose a little too much if they weren't a Biker Gang anymore. As cool as say, a "Mafia arm" of Cobra would be, it'd be a very different organization from the Dreadnoks.
As Troy said, I think the basic concept of the evil Biker gang is still viable and relevant (The Hell's Angels, Outlaws, and Mongols are all still pretty big and often involved in criminal activity...it just isn't the focus of media hype anymore). Basically, you could redesign the 'noks to look "less Mad Max/Less Punk Rock" and more of a traditional biker gang. I thought the "Nu-Sculpt" redesigns of Zarana, Ripper, and (especially) Torch were all good, or at least a step in the right direction: Ripper Torch Zarana I'd take all of those in modern form. Can you imagine "emo Snake Eyes" and "goth Scarlett"? Not sure what can be done to update the Dreadnoks... but maybe a rival biker gang for them to fight? Maybe "Occupy Protest" figures? Who knows? Or Hasbro could have the Dreadnoks gang split into two separate gangs which fight one another? Would make for some interesting file cards, and allow the introduction of new Dreadnok characters. |

They should be overhauled as big furry animals. That would be money.
