I was pretty specific about ways in which they could improve their website, from a suggestion of a "Collector's Corner", figure subscriptions service, having better categories (for ex: they still don't have a "The Vintage Collection" section for Star Wars, as we enter year three of that line); to working with their partner, Hasbro, to find out how to offer single figures again, instead of solid cases.

I think what it is... is that wherever HTS and Hasbro are linked down the line... whether HTS is more like an authorized dealer or they really are more connected than not... is HTS probably only cares about a bottom line and if other toy lines from toddler on up are meeting expectations... they don't really need to care about Joes. It is whether or not we even make a difference... not whether or not we'd be willing to buy more stuff.
I don't think it's a super black and white easy answer type thing. If people attend Toy Fair or JoeCon etc... I encourage you to talk to the Joe team about it and see what they say. I got the impression last year that the relationship between the two was a blend of confusing and frustrating. But again, without details, it might just be like any other company complexity. If Hasbro can show that people are unhappy with HTS, they might be able to work out a better deal in the future. |
