I liked him as a kid, but when I got older, it was like, why do I need a team when I have Snake Eyes? It didn't seem realistic any longer that this man was a one man army that was perfect in all his ways. The team seemed much more realistic without him. I know how you feel Headman and I agree with you. Sab |

I was always a Destro fan. He always seemed like such a cool villain. He never got drunk with power, he just did what he did. While associated with Cobra, he really was always his own entity, Cobra just happened to be paying him. While doing pretty evil things, he always had a sense of honor. He was at the side of the highest bidder, but he had a soul. I always felt like Destro was the most fleshed out character and the most real. On a basic human level, he is each and every one of us.

Firefly (v3) (see avatar)
He killed Cobra Commander and took over Cobra and lead a successful campaign destroying the entire Joe fleet and killing several of the crappy joes (many of whom cut in half at the waist (damn rubber bands)). He was awesome, and my favorite as a kid. He was the only Cobra to totally school some Joe a--.

Well I have a bunch of figures that I like. I am originally from New Orleans, and one of my first Joes was Gung-Ho and since he was from Louisiana he was one of my favorites along with the other members who happen to be from LA. Although from New Orleans, I grew up just across the state line in Bay St. Louis, MS, so Roadblock, being the only member from Mississippi became one of my favorites as well.
Then onto Flint, because I loved him in the cartoon along with Quick-Kick, Spirit, and Wild-Bill, Leatherneck, Wet-Suit, Shipwreck, Zartan, Destro, Firefly, Rock & Roll.....ok there aren't too many Joes/Cobra I didn't like. Those not in the cartoon that would appear in the comics I liked as well and those that were only toys I liked too, again not too much I didn't like. My favorites though were Snake-Eyes and Storm shadow though. Why? Well I identified with SE more as I got older and look back at it. I had a lot of family things/illnesses, etc, I was a bit of a loner, I was into martial arts, I wasn't very good with the ladies, and always seem to have a bit of bad luck even though I was good guy who always tried to do the right thing. Plus one of my best friends was of Japanese decent and we use to play G. I. Joe together (and took a few different martial arts together) and he loved Storm Shadow so he would be him and I would be Snake-Eyes. It was funny before we ever read the comic we always pretended that Storm Shadow was actually a good guy and that they were best friends...who knew? I think the thing I like about the figure the most (not the character) is just the fact that he LOOKS the part of the classic 12" GI Joe. I mean if someone who did not know the 3 3/4" line saw him and picked him up, they'd say, "Oh, it's GI Joe". .

Mine was Firefly. Not sure why. I think 1) because he just looked so cool and 2) I didn't know anyone else that had him. I also thought it was cool/special that he didn't appear in the cartoon very much (although now when I watch, I see he was in it more often then I had thought).
I also liked SE and SS a lot (like most people) and also the Crimson Twins. The one guy I always liked but never had was Major Bludd. I was a very happy guy the day I picked up the 25th Major Bludd. |

As a kid, I loved to make forts and set up ambushes for my joes outside and so I really liked Dusty and later Hit & Run for their camo. I also like Sci-Fi because his visor always reminded me of Robo Cop. Hawk because he was my first Joe. Lifeline, Lowlight, Copperhead, Snake Eyes, and Falcon I remember as favorites because I was the only one in my group with those figures so they were unique to our battlefield.
