I liked the more outrageous characters that made the series rediculous.
such as Golobulous, Raptor, Dr. mindbender, Destro etc. and all of the mildly sci-fi troops. If I wanted regular army men, i would have just gotten army men, y'know. The reason I like em now is because they are still so freaking cheesey.

My fave was always Cobra Commander on account of I never had him when I was a kid I had every joe from 1985-1990. Did not get the ealier ones at retail only at flea markets and toy trade shows. One day my dad found me a hooded CC figure from 1984 and surprised me with it that Sunday morning. Also found I think I recall a Imperial Stormtrooper as well. Thank God for these re-issues now I see Cobra Commander everywhere I go!

cool as a toy: flash, stalker, torpedo, snow job, wet-suit, lowlight, firefly
cool toys that were also characters I enjoyed in the cartoon: flint, spirit, dusty, destro, zartan, the twins snake-eyes and storm shadow require no explanation. |

Clutch -
The VAMP was one of the first JOE things I got back in '82 and I thought (and still do ) that it was just awesome. Clutch looked cooler than the regular Joes b/c of the brown vest, shoulder pads and chest holster - that and the fact that he looks like the OLD SCHOOL GI Joe like no other 3 3/4 figure ever made - he's a classic! That and throw in he's attitude and character from the comics - come on, how could you not love this guy? Not to mention the 25th version and 25th VAMP both ROCK!! Long live Mrs. Steinberg's favorite son from Asbury Park! .

I lost my mind when I first saw the B.A.T. & they've been my favorite ever since. The black + orange, silver T visor, the lenticular chest piece & the different arm attachments just blew me away.

I've got several favorites. Why do I like them? I don't know.
The way they look? Or the demeanor of the characters as they were revealed to me in the comic and/or the cartoon. I like several of them. No real favorite. I can tell you who I DON'T like. I do not like Cobra Commander, Crimson Twins, Billy and Zartan. Never have, never will. Sab |

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from on your dislikes Sab. For some reason or another I just flat out don't like Snake Eyes which always seems to get me the "Are you sure you're a GI Joe fan?" reaction from other fans.

I loved Snake eyes when I was a young kid but as I got older i started to not like him. Right now he isn't a favorite of mine but I don't hate him.

As a kid I always liked Snake Eyes because he was a ninja in a black suit; I was huge into Martial Arts at the time and ninjas. I have an affinity towards the Python Patrol figures also, mainly because I missed out on all the troopers and they were my only way to get troopers, officers, vipers, crimson guards, etc. I like the color scheme too, not realistic, but it grew on me.
Funny this is too, as a kid I liked Serpentor when he first came out. That bada$$ snake suit and his chariot, he just seemed sweet. Now as an adult, after watching the old episodes and the movie, Cobra Commander is my favorite. I kinda felt for him after everybody in the organization that HE built tries to betray him; I guess I like rooting for the underdog. Lastly, I like him now as much as I did back then...Alley Viper. Don't know why, funny orange and blue colors, unrealistic and all, he just looks awesome to me. |
