Besides some pretty serious illness and other issues in his life, they have had some amazing nightmares within Slayer. One entire set of orders were nearly all ruined due to a postal truck being involved in a crash. Of course, Dave had no idea what happened until they were returned to him in disarray - most castings destroyed - and apparently the post office doesn't insure for their own errors. So, Dave had to such up that wave on his own dime and remake those, all the while getting behind on the current wave (and subsequent waves) - and doing all this while recovering and running a business.
Dave has owned up to making mistakes - much of the shutdown was a sign of this. The sales and ridiculously low priced CAM kits were done for his love of his art and wanting it to be available to more people - but so many took advantage of the deals that he was overwhelmed. When opening a new place to work, he was unable to get internet access for a while, and Slayer suffered for it. I'm not sure if his new business model is working or not - I can't see a difference on the front end, as none of his sculpts have sold out as of yet. With another USPS fiasco, I'm sure once again he has gotten behind. But what needs to happen in this community is once we understand the problem is to support the guy. In the end, this is not a hugely profitable enterprise for him or his family. And with having to remake so many pieces over time, I'm not sure it is profitable at all! You don't have to support him, but you sure don't have to kick him when he's down. The worst thing that will happen is to no longer have Slayer. Raginspoon, Onyx Pheonix and Broken Arrow (among others) all do great work, but none of them can make everything that customizers want. Working together, they actually supply us an amazing number of head sculpts, torsos, helmets, etc., that we would otherwise not be able to get and do an amazing job. But without Slayer, I believe even these other companies would agree, customizers would lose out on a lot of creativity and a source of great parts. Dave doesn't want your words of encouragement. I think he just wants people to communicate with him, not about him. Maybe just believe the vast majority of consumers of his parts when we say he does come through. And of course, let him know - multiple times, if need be - that something has happened. That can be frustrating, but remember, this isn't his primary or even secondary priority (those with families will understand what I mean). But it is important to him.

Dave will get any problems you may have squared away if you give him time.
On another note, those that think it's a good idea to make threats to him and/or his family aren't going to get their orders any faster. In fact, you'll more than likely get your order cancelled and a refund. |

I had won 2nd place in a contest sponsored by Slayer. It took a while to get any of the prizes, but when I did, WOW
The products are of good quality and well worth the wait.

Is Slayer still in business? If so, could someone send me the URL to their site. The one I had saved in my Bookmark is no longer working. Thx.
