It's time for the 3rd edition. If you would like to catch up, here are the past editions:
Intro: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1836 Tiger Force: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1895 To kick off the 3rd edition I will discuss the most powerful Cobra organization in my Joe world. The Dreadnoks were the most powerful and most dangerous group in my Joe world. First I will give some insight on why they were the most powerful Cobra organization. I was always a huge fan of the Dreadnoks. They appealed to me instantly as a child. The biggest factor in this, is there leader. Zartan was the coolest character that was ever created in G.I. JOE in my opinion. The first time I saw him on the cartoon I was a fan. Then when I got his action figure, there was no looking back. Zartan was the most used figure in my Joe world. He would lead many missions given out by Cobra. He would also have his own motives in my Joe world. He would often capture Joes and hold them for ransom. Selling them to commanders within Cobra. Zartan often was the executioner of many Joes. Zartan would also wind up killing Cobra's in my Joe world. Throughout the years of my Joe world Zartan would go on to having wars within Cobra. He even ordered the assassination of his own sister. The main 3 Dreadnoks were often hated by Joe fans. I loved them. Ripper, Torch and Buzzer were great additions and perfect characters to help bring Zartan down. As a child, I never had Ripper. He was one of the most wanted figures but I never obtained him. Early on it was just Torch and Buzzer helping Zartan. I eventually started pretending that Ripper was in a maximum security prison. They would often break in but would never find him. Things really started to get fun when the 2nd wave of Dreadnoks came. Thrasher and Monkeywrench were instant favorites of mine. The thunder machine was my favorite vehicle and was often abused. Monkeywrench was a favorite from the ASA mini series and he filled the void of Ripper. I now had my triple threat to help support Zartan. Monkeywrench was used often, he was a favorite of Zartan. He would eventually be promoted to 2nd in command even ahead of Zartan's own brother. Zandar and Zarana weren't liked as much but they were great additions to the Dreadnok ranks. Zandar was 2nd in command until Monkeywrench passed him. After the demotion, Zandar was treated as just another Dreadnok. Zarana was used almost too much. She was often jumping around between the Joes and Cobra. She was used and abused by Zartan. Often spying on the Joes and Cobra. She had a relationship with Flint and Snake Eyes. She also had a relationship with Monkeywrench and Major Bludd. In fact she was kind of slutty in my Joe world lol. Eventually Zarana grew tired of Zartan's antics, and she was in love with Snake Eyes. She was on a mission for Zartan trying to rescue Dr. Mindbender who had been captured by the Joes. Ultimately her love for Snake Eyes caused her not to go through with the mission. She then told the Joes what was going on and became a member of G.I. JOE. When Zartan found out he ordered Zandar to kill her. He wouldn't do it and temporally left the Dreadnoks. Monkeywrench was assigned the hit and with Road Pig they killed her. They strapped a bomb to her chest and left her for dead. Snake Eyes led a team to try and save her but were too late. The newer Dreadnoks were some of my favorite figures. Zanzibar and Road Pig were used often and I loved Gnawgahyde. They were there own trio, much like Buzzer, Torch and Monkeywrench were in my Joe world. Overall the Dreadnoks were my favorite within Cobra and they still are. They would often hold "try outs" for new members. They would let them join but would eventually kill them off. Some guys who joined the Noks for a short time were Crystal Ball, Croc Master and Taurus. Here is a link to see the Dreadnok figures: http://yojoe.com/action/subteams/dreadnoks.shtml Now for the 2nd part of the 3rd edition, I will discuss the Ranks of G.I. JOE. There were 4 generals in my Joe world. The 2 five star's were Keel Haul and Skystriker. The 2 four star's were Flint and Snake Eyes. These four men were the leaders of G.I. JOE. The ranks after those four often changed, but steady figures in charge were Striker, Beach Head, Sgt. Slaughter, Spirit, and Gung Ho. In my Joe world, after the top 4, there were many sub teams that I would create myself. I will go into these in detail in a later edition. However leaders of these teams were Striker and Beach Head. Gung Ho and Spirit also had there own teams. All in all they all reported to the main 4 guys. 5 Star Generals and Commander in Chiefs -Keel Haul -Skystriker 4 Star General and leader of the G.I. JOES -Flint 4 Star General -Snake Eyes Top Sergeants -Striker -Beach Head -Sgt Slaughter -Spirit -Gung Ho -Recondo The 4th edition will come soon! I will discuss Destro and Serpentor. Again this is something I'm doing to reflect on my experience with G.I. JOE as a child. I'm doing this here because I think some of you might enjoy it. If you guys don't, or if it bothers you or you think it's stupid please let me know. I won't continue to do this. |

So while setting up my Joe Room (expect pics soon) I decided to watch some of my Joe cartoons. What better way to set the mood . The first episode I watched was "Arise Serpentor Arise". As I was watching I remember getting picked on at school because I liked GI Joe. Sorry I wasn't much of a sports fan, so while other kids were playing football I was playing GI Joe (or Star Wars) Anyway I'm watching and they were talking about DNA and Vlad Tepes. I remember in Science class getting a question right where the answer was DNA. Then reading Dracula in English being the only one who knew what Dracula was based on. So I guess it proves that everything I know I learned from watching GI Joe.

Looking forward to seeing your Joe room. ASA is my favorite of the mini series and a great feature to show off the quality of the sunbow cartoon run. |
