I just use a knife to cut the bubble off, that way the card is safe and still looks good with no tears on it.

I've heard some people have had luck using a blow dryer to melt the glue allowing the bubble to fall off the card.

Rip them things open man. I have open every single one of my figures, set and vehicles that I have gotten so far. I am not buying them for what they might be worth in the future, I am buying them for ME, NOW!!!!!!!!!!
I went through the same thing several years back and decided that, what is the fun in colleting something when all you do is put it on a shelf or in a box in a closet and never take it out. There is no fun in that. I guess if you are just thinking in terms of the value of the item or how much it will be in the future, then you would leave them in the pack. As for me, I am an opener/ """SET THEM FREE""" Thank, Lt.Ford |

yeah, i open them. it's a lot harder to act out torpedo power-choking scuba baroness when they're still in the packages.

I few years back I had every single one of the comic 3 packs and then opened them all up because I was running out of space in my Joe room. I really, really regret doing that now.
If I were you, I'd hold on to my unopened stuff because it is a lot cheaper to by MLC stuff on E-bay than it is to buy MOC stuff if you ever want to replace something. |

To each is own, you know. Like alot of folks have said on here, space is an issue. If you don't have the room to display loose figures, there's not much point in opening them. On the other hand, even from a storage standpoint, loose figures are easier to store. There are alot of ins, alot of outs, alot of what-have-yous to toy collecting. For me, keeping them on the card takes the action out of action figure. I'm a proud opener and displayer.

you know, i bet at least one child of a collector grows up emotionally scarred by it:
Therapist tell me about your relationship with your father. Adult child of collector we have an all-right relationship, i guess. He collected action figures all during my childhood, though, and was real anal about them. I think he loved his collection more than me. I mean, how cruel is it to have a room full of packaged toys and a little boy who isn't allowed to open and play with them, or even touch them? "oh, no, andrew, you mustn't touch those! See, there's oil on our fingertips and that's why there are fingerprints and that oil can cause the cardboard on the packaging to decay so we never, ever touch daddy's toys, right? Right???" he would try to buy me stuff i wanted if i ever said i wanted one of his toys, but it still wasn't the same. It was like he was a big spoiled brat who wouldn't share. I remember when he and mom used to fight over it, because of how much money he spent on toys every month and what other things we could have done with the money. I know she felt the same way i did, that he loved those damned toys more than us. He used to spend hours and hours in his "toy room" taking them apart and repainting them and mom would sit in the bedroom and cry while i played video games. He'd also rant and rave about how he could never find anything because of scalpers, people who would buy up all the toys he was looking for to sell them on ebay. I never understood why he got so mad, though, because he used to sell shit on ebay all the time. He used to show me these boring-ass cartoons from the 1980's to try to get me into that shit. I was like, these were hand-drawn, they look so fake, didn't they have computers in the 1980's!? I mean, i guess now we have a pretty good relationship. He was never physically abusive or anything like that. It was just a strange childhood. Therapist you feel his priorities were not in a healthy order, that he valued his toys more than his relationships with you and your mother. Adult child of collector yeah, pretty much. Etc. Etc. Etc.

I opened and will continue to open all mine except for a few things. I figure I won't probably ever sell them but instead pass them onto kids somewhere down the line. So the on card value has little meaning to me. Plus I like to pose them and put them next to the customs that I make.
I did keep Flint Snake Eyes with Black Timber Doc SDCC commander on cards for now. |

Toys are not going to be the gold mine that the originals were...what i do is take an x acto and remove the figure leaving the bubble and card pretty much un harmed..albeit not worth much...
