Here's the deal. I'm running out of room like many other people are. The problem is that I've been saving every box, cardback, and inserts from every single toy I buy. For the most part I have them all from toy lines starting around 1995 and up. I do have some vintage boxes but they are in very bad shape.
When it comes to Joes I love the card art, so I don't mind keeping all of my cardbacks. This goes for my vintage Joes as well. What should I do though with the boxes and cardbacks from all of my Star Wars, Transformers, and other toy lines? I have plenty of this stuff from the Star Wars Power of the Force 2 line, as well as the Micro Machine stuff and the larger Unleashed figures. As far as Transformers go I have boxes and cardbacks from the R.I.D. line through Armada, Enenrgon, Cybertron, and the newer Classics line. I also have stuff from Marvel Legends, Indiana Jones and a few other lines as well. My pack rat ways are getting out of hand. I have even been keeping all of the little pieces of carboard that come inside the bubble as well. You know the ones with the name and pic of the figure on them. Should I just end it all and toss everything, except for my Joe cardbacks? Should the vehicle boxes be tossed as well? I'm into collecting because it makes me happy, not for the money, but if an emergency ever arises and I need to part with my collecetion I'm sure I could get a bit more with the boxes added. How much more I don't know, but is it worth keeping the boxes just in case. Please let me know your thoughts on this issue. As of right now I'm still not sold on tossing them all, but I might just toss their inner parts and just flatten the boxes.

I don't worry about the vehicle boxes... I just save all the cardbacks and file cards and call it good enough.

My wife's been getting on me about all the boxes I have saved. I've also been saving them just in case I wanted to sell anything down the line.
I think I'll have to throw them all out here soon. I'll just keep the cards from the figures and of course cut the file cards from the boxes for the Target vehicles. |

I keep what I want but I flatten them and put them in a box. Yep, I have a box full of cardbacks, flattened boxes, instructions, and stuff.

it's all garbage to me. filcards, plans, pop-up-dios... the only boxes I still have are for the sideshow 12in. SW line... and I climb up to the area it's stored regularly and debate tossin' them too... I kept EVERYTHING before about 4yrs ago then realized I'm never selling it and even if I do... having the garbage the toy came with isn't going to do much for the value. I've only heard of 2 types of toy buying. MOC or loose...

i save everything. i am a committed pac-rat and sometimes it pays off in the long run. depends on your space and your consolidating skills. here's a stack of some of my vintage ones. they all fit into the carrier box, like a russian nesting doll.
