I read somewhere that Chuckles character/look was inspired from Miami Vice. Certainly makes since.

I just typed out a big long thing that I realized, after reading the op again, really had nothing to do with the thread. So I'll just say that, being a child of the '80s, GI Joe was IT for me. It was just as important and prominent as Back to the Future, New Coke, Max Hedrom, breakdancing, a black Michael Jackson and poofy hair.

Although very small not a lot of figures and vehicles and also very short lived I could see the Dino hunters playset and figures as a sign of the times, The first Jurassic park movie came out then and kids love Dinosuars so I think Hasbro was trying to capitalize on that. Sorry forgot to mention 1993-1994

I don't know why, but the first thing that came to mind was Mad Max/Road Warrior/Thunderdome as influences on the design of Thrasher, Road Pig and the Thunder Machine.
I also remember one of the last ARAH figures I bought was Duke in desert camo thinking that was pretty cool - same as what the modern Soldiers at the time in Desert Storm were wearing. |
