Oh my gosh, a real toy photographer used one of my crappy photos?!? (rush of breath). Sadly not kidding. That actually excites me.
In the Marvel comics, Stalker is a significant character, goes way back with Snakes and SS and all that. Personally I think he's fantastic - I love how he's been portrayed in the IDW comics, even if he hasn't seen much action. To me and the extent that I have a 'Joeverse,' Stalker would probably get a promotion, though probably not quite over Duke for first shirt. I like that, in the comics, he was always a mission-first go-getter to an extreme extent - more cold blooded than Duke or even Flint. Oh, and in terms of favorite Stalker - I suppose that "Sideshow Stalker" is not an acceptable answer. I love the use of the SE body for the 30th Anniversary, and I like the face sculpt there, but the more I think about it, the more I feel his dreadlocks are not in character. Stalker might grow a beard when under alternate grooming standards, but dreads? I don't think I see it, the more I think about it.

Stalker is my second in command (Hawk being the head honcho). Duke is one of those West Point brats that's all talk but no show in my Joe-verse. He gets the respect of my Joes, especially Snake Eyes and even Storm Shadow, whereas Duke is the doormat of the team. Never understood why Duke leads shit, he was never an original Joe nor as battle-hardened as Stalker.
Stalker is an amalgam of John Shaft and John Rambo, period. I like his 30th Anniv version but I find the dreads out of place.

It is weird for the longest time I didn't even like Stalker, but after seeing Resolute he actually became one of my favs. My chain of command is like this now Hawk > Duke > Flint > Stalker > Beachhead.

He's one of the few people who knows what snake-eyes looked like before his face got blown off.

Some badass factoids about Stalker (No, not a Chuck Norris Meme, I promise): He was Snake-Eyes' squad leader in Vietnam/"the Southeast Asian Conflict." Dude was in charge of the worlds' biggest badass before he was the world's biggest badass. He appeared to be the first enlisted Joe recruited for Hawk's G.I. Joe team, at least in Hama/Marvel's run. They wanted the best of the best and who did they go to first? That's right...Stalker. He was pretty much the only Joe to really explore the concept of the soldier as a family man (during the DDP run). It's really kind of a shame Stalker was somewhat overshadowed in the overall pop-culture scheme of things (by Duke in his "senior NCO/Leader" role and Roadblock in the "most prominent black character" role), he's one of the most positive portrayals of both the military profession and black characters in general across virtually any franchise. |

I really liked how Stalker was written in Hama's run. A badass and a natural leader. In my Joeverse (I hate that word), he's currently leading the steel brigade.

Stalker is a badass hands down, he's Snake-eyes bro, Hawks go to guy and one of the best damn Squad leaders in Joe, Ironically I have him and Duke as drinkin' buddies cause they've both have to put up with Snake-eyes.
and as for the dreds....you gonna tell him he can't wear them. :P |
