Stalker is gonna be an important part of my verse. Never had him as a kid but now really appreciate his character.
As a Ranger he "Leads The Way." And beats up Tigers. |

Stalker is top 5 for me, I love the 30th version minus the dreads so I cut my figs off. the beret symbolizes his ranger status. for me he is a founder, one of the main builders of the Joe genre. he has knwn SE the longest going all the way back to their LRRP days in Nam. there is no replacing him.
In the first gulf war stalker, beachhead, storm shadow and snake eyes were in a humvee and they hit and IED snake eyes got hit with shrapnel and scarred his face. Beachhead and storm shadow provided covering fire while stalker called for medivac. Beachhead, stalker, storm shadow and snake eyes were offered a slot in G.I.JOE Beachhead and stalker accepted and snake eyes went to japan with storm shadow to learn ancient Japanese healing. |

He was the first (or at least one of the first 3 Joes i got, Stalker, Rock n Roll and Scarlett) Joe fig i had, and despite being straight-arm, he was my favourite character for many years. He was also the very first Joe i saw in action; the first episode of toon i saw was him running a bike, then jumping out of it in the air and landing on a roof. Instant mindblown! He was also on the very first (and only lol) Joe comic book i had. (I've recently completed my child's dream of having every character in that issue, by buying Blowtorch) He's basically one of the big names. Duke, Snake Eyes, Stalker and Scarlett are the top of badassnessery. the light green 25th version (single card i think) I'm not a Arah purist, i'm not a RoC/Renegades/PoC hater, but i have no problems with that fig, is basically perfect. Might change the hands at some point, tho. Quote:

Stalker is the essential hardass Badass. He was always the first Joe recruited in both IDW and Marvel so that says alot. I tend to view him more as a Green Beret, since he actually wears a Green Beret and there is only one unit in the US military allowed to wear those. Plus all the language training which is a requirement for Special Forces.
I think orignally Hama had him a LRRP from Vietnam, which later turned into the Ranger units around the same time GIJoe got started. But being a Green Beret would seem more suitable these days. But back then, LRRPs seemed just a little more dangerous. I loved the original Figure, and I love the 1st 25th version. I hate the Dreadlocks, absolutely hate them. There is no way in hell any US military man has EVER worn dreadlocks, so I think they look unrealistic. Stalker is my Top Sgt., although I like Duke, but I turned him into an Officer so I could give Stalker the role that has always belonged to him.

He's at the same badass level as Beach Head, far as I'm concerned. Cool thing about GI Joe is we got both ends of the military fantasy; that the cartoons were fun, the comics were seriously awesome stories with great characters of which Stalker was a top tier one. The dreds don't bother me, so his 30th figure is my favorite.
His 25th versions have this constantly surprised look to their faces. |

Stalker is awesome! Back when I was younger though, I actually was hoping the comic books would have spun off, like how the Avengers spun off Avengers West Coast and DC with their Justice League titles, but for the Joe universe, Stalker would head his own group.
As for my favorite figure, I thought the 25th Anniversary was good but the 30th Anniversary had a better face sculpt minus the dreads.

I was always really into the comics and Stalker was one of the really key characters - one of Joes with a little more substantial personality.
He was the natural small unit leader - highly capable in all fields, without being a superman. He wasn't the scariest or the deadliest or the best shot or the most intimidating or the most badass. He was aggressive and decisive, but never gratuitously ruthless. Compared to characters like Duke, Beachead, and Flint you got the sense that he was in a healthy place mentally, and wasn't trying to prove anything to himself or others. He was the powerful personality that could keep the Joes with the really big egos in check, the guy who made the tough calls without flinching, the guy who kept an eye out for everyone on the team, the leader who lead through respect rather than testosterone or intimidation. Check out the original Borivia story arc to see Stalker at his very best, and also the war in Trucial Abyssmia. |
