Thanks, mate. That's really helpful and good to know. That's what I like about The Tank...people sharing stuff like that. I'm going to pick some coverage up.....stuff starts to add up after awhile......especially if you have some customs.

No problem I would hate to see somebody SOL if something bad happened to there collection. Has anyone had this talk with there insurance company, I wouldn't assume that your renters home insurance will pay you adequately. I can tell USAA won't.

I had to make an inventory list with quote prices from a price guide (I used the current toy-review at the time) and then they charged me a certain amount based on what the price guide said my collection is worth. It is tied to our homeowners insurance, since my collection has more monetary value than anything else in our house. My wife would know better than me, but I think it was only like $22 a year for up to $20,000 of coverage. It is a little more now because I needed more coverage, but not much. Maybe like 30-35 or so. But I have to keep a running inventory and keep them somewhat up to date also.

If you don't mind me asking who did you have for insurance, the 65 dollars I was quoted for 4000 seemed really high for such a little a mount of coverage. I also found it strange that I would have to get an outside insurance company ( not the insurance company I currently have) to cover my collection.

Is this home owners insurance? I live on a military base so I can only get renters insurance. So I'm not sure if that's the issue, Maybe homeowners insurance covers a lot more. |
