Does this really work? In this computer automated society we live in I would not be surprised to discover that the only way to get a store to order more GIJOE's is if they do not have anymore in the inventory system. People have been saying on the tank for years to buy up the pegwarmers and keep the receipt so you can return/exchange them later, but I am curious to find out if anybody has tried this. Did you buy up all the arctic destroys and then next week there was 30th anniv shit hanging in its place? How do the big chain stores do their ordering?

Well yes this works but people frown upon it. I think we as collectors like the natural progression of new waves coming in and old figures sticking there ground.
Purchasing and returning is a bit like hunting a animal when its off season. Even the idea is frowned upon here. What your seeing now, is post christmas season blues and get used to it. The GI JOE selection you see now will be what you get till May when the movie comes out. This isn't fact this is from years of collecting toys. My suggestion is to purchase on line. BBTS, KOKOMO TOYS and TOYCADE all have reasonable priced cases. Toysrus.com has a few of the current figures and if you gander ebay or the BST threads you may get lucky and pick up a Zombie Viper for under 15. GI JOE is a tough line to collect in the stores. Since this time last year I have been purchasing all my Joes on the internet and I am pretty sure I did not half of them in the stores, even though I fancy myself as quite a hunter.

I wish I knew. There was a report here that a person did this with Arctic Destros and low and behold it worked. You can always return the figures after the re-stock (screwing over any future restock) or to another store in the same chain, e.g. another Target (thus screwing over the other collectors immediately).
But why go through the hassle??? Spending valuable gas and time and possibly preventing another store from getting a restock in this decade. It seems more logical to simply buy the figures you want from e-tailers like smalljoes, BBB, or god forbid eBay. |

Yeah, idk if it works, but it seems that if you buy pegwarmers then return them, inevitably you're still gonna have pegwarmers hangin around at one point or another.

I'll do it sometimes and it does work. Recently I bought all the remaining Renegades figures from a local Target. I'm waiting on the restock. I ended up with 1 extra Renegades Duke and 3 Cobra Commanders. I plan on keeping them though they are both good figures and I have some things in mind for the CC's . I'm hoping they restock with wave 3 but there are no guarantees.

I can't agree with just buying the figures online. Paying anything more than $7 or $8 for a single figure is insane. Really, they're not even worth it at that price. I can't justify paying close to $15 for them. If I don't find it in a store, then I wasn't meant to have it.
