Like my comic book collection it'll probably be worth very little. But I still keep those around as will I keep my Toy collection around.

Thanks lots of good points and funny ones too. Not new to Gi joes but new to collecting. Like a lot of you for me my drive to collect is driven by nostalgic value and completing what I have. I had some serious confliction on should I open the stuff I have, I don't troop build don't have the room however I would buy two of each figure and only open one. After a lot of the points given I will think more about that practice and if I still want to do that.

I'd hang on to your RoC stuff. The world might end in 2012, but you'll still be able to find a RIA Duke at TJMaxx.

It depends on how much sentimental value you've invested. Ie: My son and I have had loads of hours and hours of playtime Im sure when he gets older certain toys will be worth more to him because of the times we shared when he was a kid as opposed to some kid who just remembers the name ... I collect because my father and I used to lay on the ground and pretend to play wars with each other Id take my joes in the bath tub and play for hours Id play with my other friends and family members it was an innocent age and time and I remember it like it was yesterday .. I have 99.9 % of all my childhood toys al the rest were just toys i didnt get to have because my parent didnt spoil me and they didnt make a lot of money so the little I had I enjoyed and appreciated.
I think future generations will remember game consoles and a screaming parent. |

Great point, but people who bought them in the 80s opened most of them. Now people are buying one to open and one to keep moc. I think that they will be tons of moc figures from today available in many years to come.
