Title says it all, folks:
What do you plan to have done with your Joes and/or other toys when you die? Will you leave them to your children? Donate them to a museum? Let your family sell them? Donate 'em all to Toys for Tots? Have them carefully packed and shipped to the deserving, gracious Monte Williams? In theory, my knee-jerk instinct is to leave them to my daughter, but really, my photography hobby's a rather solo deal; she joins me outdoors sometimes and plays while I take photos, but it's not something I share with her much; we bond more over watching cartoons together. That being the case, perhaps it'd make more sense to leave my Joes to like-minded nerd friends. But I'm not sure, hence my morbid decision to bring the question here to the Tank: What becomes of your toys when you die? |

I'm sure some lucky person will get a steal at auction. My kids won't want any of them because they're both girls. Now grandchildren... that's another story. We'll see, but I don't plan on dying anytime soon.

99% of what people have in their collection a museum would not want. Even an action figure specific museum. Unless you have prototypes, unproduced or super rare stuff, they probably already have it.
If I die, Gyre's gotta come over to the house, and after my kids pick out what they want to keep (totally up to them how much), Gyre will tell my wife what's what and how to sell it. With the size of collection I have, it would be overwhelming for someone who doesn't know what it is to sell it. |

My plan is to massively clear the clutter of my collection, keep what really means a lot to me now, and sell the rest. The remaining bits will have a small section of what was my original childhood figures, some of my favorites in general, and the rest that can be sold if something happened to me.
Definitely would overwhelm my wife, or most joe collectors to deal with (20 X 20 room of boxes full of vehicles 1000+, and figures 10,000+), so best to do it now. I found that out the hard way dealing with my father's lifetime hobby and accumulation of tools, and small engine, and lawn mowers when he died unexpectedly. |

My collection will go to my children. Its already written in my will. They can do whatever they want with it, but hopefully they'll pass it along to their children/grand children
