The little Hasbro case box that they pack six figures in? It's really light. All that's in there are file cards and the box art that I cut off of the ToysRUs 3-packs. It's perfect for file cards.

It's good to hear I'm not the only one who makes a point of saving the cards after I slice 'em off their package...My Roommate thinks I'm nuts for hanging onto all that garbage, but I like to have it for reference.
And like everyone else already pretty much said, I just use a box cutter as well, it was such a lifesaver when I discovered that method because I've been keeping cards for all my figs since...well, since I was a kid! |

I don't use a Blade or save the bubble wrap. I use a heat gun to loosen up the glue and then I pull it off little by little thus purserving the artwork and package. It's 90% perfect. If I was patient enough I might get 100% perfection.

I use a box cutter and completely cut off the bubble. I use the bubble to mix paints for customs. I store the full backs in acid-free page protectors with reinforced 3-ring holes so I can store them in a huge binder my wife made for me. It's black leather and has an embroidered Cobra emblem on the front.
P.S. Shockwave that chubby kid in your sig is funny. Where did it come from? |

I was wondering if people had any special tricks on how to open a GI Joe single card without wrecking the card and plastic too badly. I use a utility knife and slowly cut & trace the plastics outer edge with the tip of the knife. Then on the right side of the plastic I cut just under the plastic from top to bottom. I then peel back the plastic. The first score around the entire plastic helps the paper not to rip out into the card. The tearing keeps within the plastic boundary. It's not perfect but it beats just ripping it open. How do you do it?
I was also wondering if people who open their cards keep the cards and packaging? I would think a figure would be worth more with the card and packaging then with out it. Of coarse it wont be worth as much as a sealed card but more then a loose figure with no card. So, is that true? Better to keep the card and packaging?

I must be crazy I just rip off the bubble. Then I remove the figure from the plastic prison. I then proceed to cut the file card with scissors just like when I was a kid. :>)

I wish I could have learned about the heat gun/hair dryer about 60 Joes ago. Oh well.
I didn't mention that I do keep one side of the bubble attached. I even keep the plastic part the figure and guns came in. I figure this way if I sell them I can make it look almost what it looked like when I bought it. |

ditto with the heat gun works great! even try some goo-gone helps take any tack off. I've used my fiances mini laminator too. keeps them from sticking to one another and keeps the file cards nice and clean.
