So im watching over all the old episodes of GI Joe, and it seems in almost every episode Cobra has another huge elaborate base, and they all seem to be located within the U.S. Now is it just me, or would that make them very easy to find and then carpet bomb? haha Or do the GI Joes not actively peruse the destruction of cobra, but just try to maintain them when they act up? From what i see in all these episodes, cobras hair-brained schemes might be good for the economy. They are always blowing something up or whatever, thus keeping whatever manufacturer in business. Or the episode when they vaporized all the paper money, well now the US would have the most valuable currency in the world. $1 would be worth $1000 on the market. Stocks would now sky rocket! It just seems like cobra would not be that hard to take down. I think there is some kind of conspiracy to keep them around to keep this country booming. Or maybe these cartoons only show us the negative stuff cobra does. Maybe when they are not trying to take over the world they run a chain of homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and animal sanctuarys?

Every super villian has to have his many lairs, like Dr. Evil for instance, his Hollowed out Volcano, his Submarine lair, his Moon Base, the Starbucks headquarters in the space needle, the add agency in Hollywood.

I'd also say that many of those bases were hidden. I remember there being a few under ground, in mountains, under the desert, underwater, etc.... Kinda hard to blow up something that's hidden

thats why we invented bunker busters haha. It doesnt seem like you would be able to hide a lot of stuff from us in our homeland, maybe a small faction of people could hold up for a while, but a huge terrorist organization with tons of huge elaborate bases, weapons, aircraft, & sea vessels? i dont think so

They were everywhere, I mean, some were destroyed and others just ‘disappeared’ miraculously, I can’t imagine the rent on places like that but I imagine being an evil organization bent on world domination you can afford a new hide-out every week if need be.

It's said that the tunnels underneath Mahattan go down as much as 14 stories underground. If you wanted to make a secret lair, and you could stand the smell (and homeless, which might actually make for readily available slave labor now that I think of it) it'd be a pretty good setup. It'd be a defenders paradise if discovered and you could hardly use a bunker-buster in Times Square. ;)

I liked how the door way in was always a giant snake or there were giant snake lasers on the tops of temples etc....
Nah... that's not a cobra base... move along.

They re-used the base they had in the Weather Dominator series. And the cartoon made mention of Cobra not having many bases in the US... the episode "Captives of Cobra" after the Joes discover a secret Cobra lab, Gung-Ho says "Right here in the US of A. A lot of nerve, huh?" That seemed to inicate either Cobra didn't have many bases here, or the Joes just didn't notice.
