Is DDP really losing the rights to gijoe??I hope it is just a rumor.I don't understand,Elite art is some of the best i have seen for a joe book. The story for the most part has been good. What would make DDP NOT want to renew??Please don't let this be true.

its true, my guess would be that its more a Marvel decision. They've said for a long time they wanted GI Joe back and with the movie coming out soon they may get their wish. I'm sure Hasbro wants a big name publisher for the film as well. But thats just my 2 cents

I would love to have Marvel take the title. It has some of the best writers in the biz. Joe Q has really great talen at finding the right writers for a job. However, nothing is definite. I posted a thread about this very same subject on the yojoe forums based on a tidbit revealed at joecon 07. Consensus indicates that the contract is up for renewal shortly. But it seems like almost a foregone conclusion that DDP is not renewing the contract. They stated that Cobra The Enemy was the last Special Missions. Also, Hasbro stated that Hama is making Joe comics for some of the comic packs with another unamed comic company. That, to me, seems like pretty clear evidence that DDP isn't getting the contract back. Why would another comic make comics for your title? |

Do we get to see WW3 finish? Now that i think about it,it makes sense that they are putting all of the cobras in a highly secure prison. It would make for a good wrap up.I still don't like it,but what can you do.

Yes, America's Elite is a very good title, but what led up to that title was abysmal. The initial relaunch was terrible. The writing, the scripting AND storytelling were VERY bad through the first 25 issues, and the issues that followed were mediocre at best. DDP started out with a license and little knowledge/respect for what they were handling. They infused the comics with a lot of cartoon continuity and personalities that should have remained seperate. When questioned as to why they were straying so far, fans were told that DDP's creators were telling stories that THEY wanted to see. THis might've worked better if they had someone who'd been a fan of the original Marvel run writing, but these were guys who were writing the sequels before they even KNEW what had really gone on in the Marvel run. Personally, I'm glad to see DDP dropped. GI Joe has never shined as it should under their banner and I'm looking forward to getting back to some engaging oldschool stories. Now if only the new licenseholders do to Joe (with Hama) what IDW did to Transformers (with Furman) we might see a new, definitive Joe continuity. That's not to say that the established continuities are irrevocably flawed, Just that Vietnam was a LONG time ago and it's time for the real American Heroes to come into the present. Shouldn't it have been Larry all along? As far as I'm concerned, Joe starts AFTER DDP is dropped. Been waiting a LONG time for this.
