I think I got pretty lucky EARLY when I found my yellow Stalker! I had no idea he would be so valuable so I opened him...oh, well, I probably wouldn't sell him anyway since I haven't found the green one yet!

but you have to understand both sides of the arguement, if you can even call it one. i too, am trying for just one yellow Stalker, but like Fridge said, someone mentioned something, now people went nuts because the "lesson" we learned of the Gold Destro and Black Timber variant are still fresh in our "collector" minds. ..but hey, to each his own. as long as you don't hurt anyone in the process is what i say. |

actually your wrong they are more than just toys, they are a lifestyle...especially when people are spending up to 8k for a vintage joe from brianstoys....there more like a piece of art like a salvador dali, monroe, etc????LOL they are definitely more than toys though or there wouldn't even be a hisstank

Man I am getting tired of the variant and rare bull. Yeah, I know alot of you guys make a big deal about if that eyebrow is bigger than the other or wow he doesn't have a paint knife handle...blah, blah. Nobody cared when they were kids and nobody should care now. So please don't apease the bottom feeders and buy foolish product that is not worth your hard earned cash...spend on some Vintage Loose Joes and Cobras and have fun with your friends, kids, or whoever you enjoy the Hobby with! "nuff Said...OOOOOooo I got a rare black timber for cost...nyah, nyah, nyah.... Have fun guys! |

According to the news reports at the time, parents were regularly throwing down on other parents; pulling each other's eyeballs out for a Cabbage Patch Kid. But that's a 100% different scenario, right? Cause. . .um, cause those toys were rare, chase, hot, and for girls. -PJ |

I think collectors should let collectors be collectors.
My only problem is when the "everything should be available for retail/I hate variants" side tells the "I love variants/I'll pay more for a rare figure" side they're causing problems, as if the latter were the only reason the former couldn't have their way. Either be content to be without, or content to pay more for those rare, variant, or highly desirable figures. Stop lashing out at, ridiculing, or demonizing those who are willing to buy/sell on the secondary market for higher prices. Its life in the free market economy. Deal with it. |

Why the secondary market can be bad. It makes casual collectors and fans have to pay scalpers and e-bay sellers who horde the toy sections at wally world and target just to name a few places to get what they could have gotten at retail for a cheaper price. This horriable trend also tends to make people quit the hobby, which is bad for both parties. Now i know some of you use e-bay to sell items and there's nothing wrong with that, though if your selling items such as yellow stalker for 100 bucks a pop, your making a quick buck off your fellow community mebers, which is very bad, and i can see no way why this action can be good. other than making a quick buck. I'm saying this directed at no one, but because as a collector of GI Joe and Star Wars im indeed very sick of Scalpers taking their 6th Yellow Stalker and slapping on Evil-Bay for a jacked up price when they know there are other collectors who are looking for said item. And when you ask them for one they say visit me on E-bay... Whats sad is this is a business, and i blame hasbro for these trends, they do this sort of thing on purpose to drive collectors to the stores, all the varients on Zartan for example couldn't have all been accidents, thats just way to many for accidents. Which is why im a loose collector, and why i only buy one of each figure (Except for Troops) which i buy 3-5 of on average. I dont care if i find yellow stalker or green stalker, i just want stalker. if every collector would get out of the completist habbit then hasbro would shape up and the secondary market would as well. As a side note i dont recall mothers ripping eye balls out for any GI Joe items back in the 70's, though the Cabbage patch kid thing was a very funny and sad event in consumer history. |

It keeps being repeated on this site, but this is a wonderful example of capitalism at work. Quote:
