Customs are fun, I enjoy making them, however when you can pick up ultra cheap figs at close out stores it probably makes it a lot more fun. When your one of those idiots who lives outside the US and pays through the nose for fodder you have to be a little more selective with how much fun you have |

I don't like remaking original characters, I prefer making my own version of the character, or new characters.
i figured there was a strong chance that mercer was going to come out. mind you I'm not a fan of that colour red for his flak jacket. considering there is about 3000 figures now, if I were merely recreating a figure in the new torso format I wouldn't dare wait, for all 3000 or 1500 arah figures to be remade, it will unlikely ever happen. |

I customize to bring tranquility to an otherwise tumultuous day.
I think it depends on what you're customizing for. If you're wanting to fill gaps in your collection, then, yeah, you might need to be patient for certain things. But I do it for the fun of it. Besides, some of the things I've customized have been, IMO, on par with what Hasbro has given us. I really liked my 25th Lowlight I did, and I think my 25th Crazylegs was as good as what Hasbro gave us. And we never really got a proper Ripcord, and I did a couple of those.

I pay more attention to detail to my customs than Hasbro does on their figures. I think the real question should be, why would Hasbro release a figure if they've already seen my work in making the same one...
;) Kidding aside, it all depends on your goal. I rarely customize a Joe character. I like making originals. Things that nobody will make but me. So why wouldn't I keep doing that? I skimmed the 7 pack pics and examined them for parts only. If that helps explain my sickness.

You can always do something creative... you know...instead of the same thing Everybody does...taking the Vintage Look and slathering it on the Modern articulation.
We know what Hasbro is going to do...it's always going to take cues from the Vintage figures with a little updated twist. If hasbro keeps stealing your thunder, do something different. |

I'm too picky when it comes to Joe figs. That's why I make customs.
