How are you guys cataloging / collecting inserts and flyers? Im thinking about laminating the promotional items / blueprints but Im worried that will destroy the value / integrity of the item. Should I keep them in nylon sheets in a three ring binder? Pics of your collections would be appreciated.

I like the idea of the putting them in the plastic 3-ring binder pages.
I bought pages like that for my file cards as well as my full cardbacks, though I have yet to put them in there. I still have them all in a plastic tote for now. I don't think I would laminate them though.

hmm...that would be counterproductive to what I'm trying to do, but Its always good to know what others are doing with their collections. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.

NO im kidding. To avoid clutter i usually keep one of each figures cards art in tact and chunk the rest ... I keep them in a tupperware box. As far as blueprints go .. i keep most of them and because i dont army build vehicles i usually only have one and i keep them in the same place as the card art

Bump. Seriously does nobody else give a shit about the condition of paper? This stuff ends up holding value in my experience.

I know dealers who chuck the paper by the tote fulls. I was 20 minutes late to a store that burnt a decent sized box of Starduster comics, inserts, etc.
The biggest thing with any paper goods is keeping moisture from away from it. If you put them in plastic make sure to check that plastic every now and then. Moisture can build up and cause damage. |

If you have multiples, i say laminate one of each for display or frame them. I dont think the old inserts have too much value to start with. I have seen a collection where someone laminated some inserts, (the fold out catalogs) it looked pretty cool. Personally, I like having them and I can see the point of putting them in binder pages, but I just have one big ziplock they are organized and placed into.

If it's good for 150 year old photographic prints it'll serve for 25 year old paper inserts. Last edited by Konigstiger; 09-29-2011 at 05:26 PM.. |
