About 2 Months ago My Fiancee 5 year old starting watching the re runs of the sunbow GI JOE Series instantly he was hooked. I was kinda shocked , kids now adays only seem to care about electronics and dont play with toys much but to my amazement he asked does this cartoon have toys. I told him yes and the rebirth of my GI JOE passion began.
At The Beginning of This Month I Bought him his 1st GI JOE , The 25 Anniv. Tiger Force Duke the way his face lit up and his smile was priceless hes played with it non stop since i bought it for em even used one of his shoe boxes to keep it and all his acessories in and hasnt lost a single one , even though im not his dad im pretty much the damn near closest thing to a father he has. It Made me wonder if the feeling that gave me was similar to the one my father had back in 1990 when he bought me my 1st Joes at 3 . Its a priceless feeling my only regret is I wont be able to take him to Toys R Us and watch his face light up in amazement as I use to , lets face it Jefferys place aint what it use to be . The Other great thing is no matter how tired I am after working all night at my job to see him in the Morning and the 1st thing he asks can we watch GI Joe lol , the same goes for when he gets off the bus when i pick him up lol . Its Funny this little guy has full out gi joe conversations with me every morning before he gets on the bus. Its funny i havent noticed until now that him getting into GI JOE has somewhat pulled me back into a world I left 9 years ago when I was 14 , My Current hobby was collecting Sneakers but i havent payed attention to that at all since I bought him that damn Duke lol I've spent my spare time with him watching the sunbow re runs or online joe hunting for him I want to get him all the older stuff i never had but always wanted and with a very well paying job thats something ill be able too do , today for example i plan on going 25th anniv figure hunting to see what i can find, and pick the little guy up a skystriker. His mother calls it spoiling but its GI JOE FOR CHRIST SAKE !!! lol I guess the thing thats sucked me back in the most is watching reminds me of a time in my life when things were so simple , carefree it was called childhood YOOOOOOOOOO JOE!!!! GOD DAMN IT FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK Last edited by MCFLYxBALBOA; 09-21-2011 at 02:26 PM.. Reason: changing of topic name |

This is a great story, and it's nice to hear that collecting gives you those bonding moments.
Although the title of the thread made me think you'd eaten an O-ring. |

Awesome! Love these stories. Although I have no boys, I have 2 girls. And surprisingly my oldest daughter watches Renegades sometimes after Jem & the Holograms, My Little Pony, and Strawberry Shortcake. I've given her several Joe toys to play with (mostly ROC ).

That is a great story, I love reading stuff like this. It sounds like the two of you have really bonded over the joy of "Joe." I have a 6 year old son who loves all of the same things I loved when I was a kid, Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Thundercats, Transformers, etc.; but his real love is Legos. I never push anything on him though; if he likes it, he likes it, if not oh well. He has not asked me for a new Joe toy in a long time, but on Monday after I picked him up from school, we went to Meijers. They had just put out a case of the 30th Wave 1. I thought he was going to want a new Lego set, but he came around the corner holding an Iron Grenadier. He said he needed more Cobra Troops, and that this guy has a huge gun to shoot G.I. Joes! Of course I bought it for him.
Hey just because you are not the boy's biological father does not mean you can't be his "dad." It sounds like you think the world of him, and he thinks the world of you. That is really cool. Last edited by FlintWO2; 09-22-2011 at 01:02 AM.. Reason: type-o |

Great read! In a few months you will get to know first hand what the term "Plastic Crack" means. LOL
Welcome to the Tank and back to GI Joe. :o) |

Nice story, thanks for sharing. When I saw the title I was about to advise that you not eat the o-rings. I would continue getting him the new Joes without the o-rings just in case.
