Chef is an interesting concept art G.I. Joe character, still as yet unproduced officially, but it is fun to see custom figures made of him.
He is believed to have been intended as a mail away figure offer for the Ralston Purina Company Action Stars cereal around 1985 and never went into production, but instead the action figure known as Starduster became the mascot for that cereal. While I did attend the 2014 International G.I.Joe Convention at Dallas, I missed out on the custom class which offered some parts from Boss Fight Studio to create a custom Chef figure. Interestingly, the class misinterpreted the red chevrons on his uniform shirt as seen in the concept art, and believed he might be a sailor, so they included a Navy Reserve emblem decal for his forearm. Chef wore the red chevrons of a Sergeant First Class of the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps as others have done one hundred years ago. Prior to, during, and after the first World War the US Army shirts had these red chevrons. This soldier is the G.I. Joe team Army Culinary Specialist (MOS 92G) responsible for feeding his troops in the field. An army marches on its stomach. Recently HissTank member Steel Brigade demonstrated that Chef could be built by using Marauder Task Force parts and a Boss Fight Studio apron, so I used his recipe to make this version of my own.
