Whatcha think? This album came out in 1978. I´ve never heard it, I just saw it on a friend´s wall. Coincidence? I know Hama has made some other rock n roll references in the past...
JUDAS PRIEST Stained Class music reviews and MP3 I´d say if it were just the head, it might be coincidence. But the red collar pushes it over the top - how can this not be a direct connection? Last edited by Stormgard; 09-16-2011 at 09:10 PM.. |

Looks like destro, or what his movie version should have looked like.

Well...it certainly could have inspired the designers at Hasbro - but not Hama.
As far as I know he named all the characters and wrote their filecards after seeing the promo art, but he didn't design the figures themselves. Pretty cool find by the way. Last edited by Dod Ear; 09-23-2011 at 08:20 PM.. |

one of the best albums ever... this is the album that landed priest in court for a teen suicide and made the family look like idiots..
your friend has good taste... sad it's priests last tour, and i will be missing it.. and i highly doubt it had any influence on destro.. but growing up it highly influenced me.. Last edited by Unclassified; 09-24-2011 at 11:22 AM.. |

Interesting, thanks.
You've gotta wonder where they got the inspiration for some of these characters, with very distinctive and original looks. Like Zartan for instance, I wonder who came up with his look. He has a hood, weird armor, funny facepaint - he almost looks like something out of a fantasy movie or something. Some people have commented that Croc Master looks a lot like Bane. I've always thought the CGs were reminiscent of the Imperial Guard in the SW universe. IMO Dusty actually looks like someone out of the French Foreign legion, with his FAMAS and headgear. Didn't SE come about simply because they wanted to make a action figure that was all black to save on production costs? Whoda thunk this guy would have become the most famous Joe of all time? Does anyone have any other ideas for where certain characters got their looks from? |

Destro is a play on the man in the iron mask concept.
Baroness is partially base on the story of Anastasia Zartan is just a anigram for Tarzan. Croc Master came out long before Bane was created. I used to have Bane's first appearance in a Batman mini series which came out in the 90s after I had gotten out of GI Joe yes the Crision Guard was a direct rip off of the royal guard in Jedi. |
