Here's another take on the many versions of the "core characters": When Hasbro set out to establish four theatres of engagement for the Pursuit of Cobra, They had a great framework within which to re-introduce all of our support cast of favorites alongside the main characters. Following their marketing philosophy of every little kid wanting one of the "leaders", why not give us a version of each sculpted for each of the four environs? Some of our talented Tankers have done this, and hasbro did give us that Arctic Destro, but I feel there was a missed opportunity to deluge us with Duke, SS, SE, and CC while still making it more appealing to us Big Kids. Had they stretched POC into the Air and Sea, we could have seen new versions of Torpedo, Topside, Wetsuit, Shipwreck, Keelhaul, Deep Six, etc. and an updated Sky Patrol. Insert your own Cobra equivalents.
I'm just looking at the preponderance of those four core figures and trying to make them work. with themed sculpts, we would also have better fodder for customs. What are your thoughts?

I'm not a big fan of that. One of the things that attracted me to GI Joe when I was a kid was that there was a different character for specific environments. It made them more unique and interesting.
I really don't want a "Barbie" GI Joe. Astronaut Duke, Princess Duke, Fast Food Employee Duke, Slutty Duke, etc... |

Environment Themed Characters is an awesome idea. Even using the main four as the lead in. I think Hasbro could see some sales if they considered brining in more of the secondary heroes,. torpedo... wet suit........ etc.. after using the lead in characters.. I think the should short pack the lead however, and focus on the supporting troops. How about a desert footloose and bazooka, etc..

Not much discussion, I would have thought it would be more provocative.
