Well, from what I watched of GI JOE cartoons, The so-called pilot ACE.. lost 4 skystrikers in 1 month. So as far as I am concerned he might as well be a damned astronaut, because apparently he can't fly a damn plane.

The only issue I ever had with Ace was his eyes - and a touch of sharpie fixes that. The outfit is a good homage to the original, which is what the line is meant to be, so overall I'm happy with him.

Alyosha did a great job fixing him. I guess it depends on whether you want something true to the original or something more in tune with what alyosha did. I mean, you would think that hasbro would use common sense, they have hit so many home runs they should have thought about this figure more before releasing him.
