Both 4 me

The Comic's had really great thought out stories that i added tons of background detail that i enjoyed and made me feel like i knew each characters life story and i loved that

But the cartoon added the humor and character to each of the figures i grew to love

so its a mix of both that made G.I. joe great to me

I prefer Larry Hama's Marvel Comic Series but I like the cartoons too. The 1987 movie is my favorite cartoon ever (both english and spanish audio).

As a kid neither, because they weren't really avalible to me.
Now as an adult the comic, it's more realistic and exciting.
Oh yeah and brutal.

I'm a cartoon guy. I don't get the "realistic" argument for the comics. there are just as many fantastical elements in the comics as the cartoon; just because characters died or their backstories were drawn from actual events doesn't make the comic as a whole realistic.

Cartoons all the way. But if I had to choose my favorite incarnation of the Joes, it would be the Fenslerfilms PSA parodies.

I watched the cartoon as a kid and read the comics. Now, as an adult, I've had the opportunity, like many of you, to look back. Thanks to modern technology, I've seen many of the cartoons again and am little more than 1/3 through the Marvel series. I have to say that hands down I like the comics better. They are a little cheesy, but more realistic and have a better plot than the cartoon. I can hardly stand to watch the cartoon just because it's so friggin' cheesy! The funny thing is, though, when I read the comics, I hear the cartoon voices in my head (meds are runnin' low).
