Though I like the cartoon series, I didn't see it enough for it to make an impact when I played as a kid, and I've read the comics more then I've seen the old cartoon.
Though the comic has made me scared for my Doc figure. Cobra has been secretly digging a hole and eying Doc.

I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down! |

The comics all the way for me. I loved the whole story line (well most of it anyways until I stopped reading them all together). The cartoon was mostly campy with the lasers and the parachutes. I will say however that I rushed home everyday when I was young to see them on tv.

BOTH you can't favor one from another that's like a parent having to say one kid is the favorite from the other...kind of a hard choice. But contrary of opinion, the DIC GI JOE Cartoon blew ratz.

if that is the case then there is no right answer. There may be one for you but only you and if you think you are the lone owner of GI Joe then you are flat out wrong. Why is it that so many people think that their own personal view of something is the way it should be and anything else is just garbage?
I don't think this thread has degenerated to the point that you think.

I voted comic, I do like the toon but to me the comic is the real deal. I just love how the characters were written in the comic.

Comics,
Hands down for me. I missed a lot of the issues as a kid but now re reading the marvel run as an adult it is amazing how many of the themes are still shaping the world around us. Some of the conflicts in the made up countries of the comics are pretty close to real events. It's amazing something 25 years old (especially a comic) is still applicable to the world we live in. Larry Hama was a freaking genius and he had some crappy concepts to work with as well. If you think about it he seamlessly incorporated a man dressed as a bird, pet crocodiles, a ridiculous emporerer in a snake skin suit, and several other terrible gimmiky costumes (darklon) and made them relevant to that world. Of course I realy enjoy how he handled the ridiculous Battleforce 2000 by blowing them to smitherenes. |
