I never got a job related code name when I was in the Air Force. The EOD guys called me "Cosmo" due to my last name being Kremer (Sienfeld-esque). And my Hockey buddies called me "Droopy" when I made big saves due to my first name being Drew. As a former AMMO troop (munitions), I am still looking for a good code name for "my" Joe file card. So far, Boomer is filling the space until I can come up with something better.

Mine was Humpty. Like all Marines, I liked to screw off when my work was done. I was exceptionally skilled at getting shit done quickly so that I could have additional time to screw off. After several days in a row of seeing me sitting on the low wall near the barracks, smoking cigarettes, another Sergeant nicknamed me Humpty. It took my stupid ass almost a month to figure out what he meant.

in basic my drill instructor noticed me in formation and made a verbal note of my size. the rest of the cadre joined the impromptu hazing. This rapidly escalated to the 4 of them searching for a nickname. "kong" was nearly what they had settled on, it wasn't until that same formation that the 1SG exited with the CO from the office and exclaimed "who the fuck is that? godzilla?" being that he was a short stocky man of obvious asian decent...the cadre erupted into what i think was honest (unstaged unforced) laughter...causing most of company to follow suit myself included. The reaction he wanted...an excuse to rip into the entire formation...to which he amended his label from "godzilla" to just "zilla"
so that's that..."zilla" it has stuck with me since week 1 of basic, i don't know if that's a codename...but i suppose it is an alias |

They couldn't pronouce my last name in basic so they called me Cally, because I'm from california. And yes Jodi is the guy back home banging your wife, girlfriend, sister and mom all at the same time. Damn it must be good to be Jodi.

My username is my military call sign. Everyone I work with has a call sign of some kind, some play off last names some just really don't make sense. This is what happens when naming ceremonies include lots of alcohol.
By the way it is a play off the Jetsons dog astro and how he speaks, neither of which describes me when I fly (got to love the naming ceremonies). Last edited by Rasstro; 08-16-2011 at 07:27 PM.. |
