It seems that Hasbro for the most part is using popularity to determine which figures to make. It works out well for me because most of my favorites are from the originals in 82 and the next couple of years, but I'm wondering why we are seeing figs like Croc Master when the some important early figs haven't been made yet? I know some figs are included because of the comic books. Does Croc Master have a huge following from the comics? I read the comics sporadiaclly as a kid, so it's very likely I missed it if he played a huge part in a storyline from the comics. I'm not bashing Hasbro, I love the 25th line and I had a Croc Master back in the 80's. I was just hoping you guys could shed some light on why he was included this early.

Croc Master = win. And I think Hasbro understands that some JOE fans were watching Captain Kangaroo and drooling on themselves in 1982 so it's good to get some of those later figures in.

Hasbro said that this line is to celebrate all 25 years of G.I.Joe -vs- Cobra. This includes the new comics, the later figures and the original figures from '82. They're just trying to get a little bit of everything. I really don't understand why they threw in a MASK figure. That just baffles me.

I agree. MASK wtf? Maybe next they can do Spike and Sparkplug Witwicky. Or better yet, Crimson Guard officer Boba Fett.

Yeah, I totally get this. I understand that not everyone's peak Joe times were in '82-'87 or so like mine. When Hasbro started making figures like Croc Master, Crystal Ball, and Golobulus, I started getting less interested. I don't know if it was b/c I was getting older, or b/c I thought they looked stupid, but I respect the fact that some people have an affinity for these figures.

This has helped keep me from going crazy, though, b/c I really only buy and/or customize figures that meant something to me. However, if a figure looks cool, I'll probably still buy it. I didn't have a clue who Wraith was until I saw the preview figure, but I'll probably get that since it looks cool.

I'd actually rather have 'modern' GI JOE be a mix of old and new characters. If such a 'new' character is a homage to another line and potentially brings in new fans without disrupting the Joe-universe (and Matt Trakker seems to slot in rather comfortably) then I'm all for it.
The image I saw of him suggests that Trakker is an excellent figure, and to me that's a good thing for the line.

I don't mind Hasbro giving us Croc Master. I do mind so many figures being released that had nothing to do with the 1982-1994 run of characters. I'd much rather see some obscure characters from the late 80's early 90's get made before figures like Wraith, Cobra Bazooka Soldier and Cobra Para-Viper. For fans who were too young to get into Joe during the glory years (1982-1986) I'm sure many are waiting for their favorite characters from the later years. I myself would like to have some of the characters made after I stopped collecting in 85. There will be plenty of time to create new characters later, so why not just give us the classics now before the movie hits?

I like Croc Master and am uber happy about him being made. The only figure I'm meh about is Trakker. I'd rather have had that slot filled by a new Joe.
