Hasbro to raise toy prices effective September 1 | Markets | Markets News | Reuters
and for the ones who dont want to go to the link.... NEW YORK (Reuters) - Hasbro Inc (HAS.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) will increase prices in the mid-single-digit range for its toys, effective September 1, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer David Hargreaves said on Monday. The No. 2 U.S. toy company is increasing prices to maintain its margins to fend off rising commodity costs, Hargreaves said during a conference call. AND Today, HASBRO, Inc. reported it’s 2nd Quarter Financials and announced that the company is doing well, given the current economic regression that is being suffered through the high costs of energy sources and food. These high costs continue to be a strain on the financial outlook for HASBRO and they must raise prices on certain products in order to remain competitive and profitable. Prices in the mid-single-digit range for will increase, as stated by Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer David Hargreaves, via telephone conference earlier today. What does that mean to us as fans? Well, we can expect marginal increases in the prices of such figures as G.I. Joe, My Little Pony,TF and Playskool. So we are going to get jacked on our My Little Ponies.......Joke............... Last edited by spacemonkeymafia; 07-22-2008 at 04:19 PM.. |

It means Hasbro has us pegged. It's already been proven we'll shell out insane amounts of cash just to get our fix of plastic crack. (Props to the guy who coined that term.)

I keep saying that we need to STOP BUYING the G.I. Joe figures at retail so Hasbro gets the message. The collectors seem to reach them in other instances (i.e. the Doc fiasco and the various Q&A sessions) so why can't we flex our consumer muscle to get some attention?

We have people paying $13 plus $7 shipping and handling for B.A.T.s on ebay. I don't think this price increase is going to turn as many collectors off to Joe's as some might think.
