Agreed 100%. I also heard the village people remark for Dr. Mindbender which had me googling all night to see which member of the 70's disco group they could possibly be talking about.

He's one of the greatest wiseass in a whole cast of wiseasses, which is saying a lot (the Joe toon had great dialogue if nothing else).

When things needed to be serious, he could be serious, and when they were too serious he (and Polly) could lighten them up. He could be a jerk one moment and have a heart the next and niether would seem a stretch for his personality. He was a slacker that could shirk the menial chores for a nap, but be the first into the fire when the action hit.

His personality alone makes him one of my favorite characters.
