The Joe movie was fun... silly 1980's animated movie fun.
Cobra Commander got the shaft, which sucked..., even at the tender age of @$%, I thought something was fishy: Why was the skin around his eyes when he was wearing his hood flesh tone, when his skin was really blue? I decided then that it was a fake story and moved on. I also thought for the longest time that a Master Sergeant outranked a Lt.. Say what you will about Cobra La... yeah, pretty lame, but Nemesis Enforcer was freakin' cool & scary. Could have done without the "lalalalalalalalala" stuff though. |

I liked the movie and still do. It sure beats Valor vs Venom or any of the stuff that's come out since imo.

Forgive my strong opinion on this, but I, for one, was not happy with what Hasbro/Sunbow/The GI Joe Movie did to what was my favorite toy franchise throughout most of my childhood.
GI Joe The Movie was the unequivocal "Jump the Shark" point for the GI Joe franchise. I (and apparently many, many other kids) began our jump off the moment they introduced and glorified the whole Cobra La element. I had chosen GI Joe years earlier as an alternative to Star Wars and many of the other "far out" toy options of that era. Why Hasbro thought they needed to remove the grounded, military aspects of the line for that crap I will never know. But I do know that my interest in the line went away very quickly once the franchise started going that way, followed by such brilliance as Tiger Force, Python Patrol, Battleforce 2000 and Eco-Warriors. In my opinion, the movie was the point where Hasbro lost their grasp on most of their core fans (similar to what happened to Transformers around the same time). Since then, they had very few original ideas to bring us back in, that is until this past year, when they finally got Joe back on track. It's strange, but I don't even acknowledge Joe from about 1990 to 2005 (Sigma 6 was a step in the right direction). For me, there really wasn't much to justify the line during that time, and I think the lack of popularity, multitude of repaints and cutrate production during that time would substantiate my opinion. |

Me- " now I dont have to type so much!" I feel EXACTLY the same! I always thought that the cartoon should have (and STILL should) adapt the comic book story lines...Id LOVE to see Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes , Stalkers ,etc.Pre GIJOE military connections done in animated form...same with the Serpentor/Destro/C.Commander 3 way Cobra Island Civil War...And Id MUCH rather the new movie was animated... |

jjk1120 you pretty much summed up my thoughts to a T.
Stormshadow was in the background for about 2 seconds...and for something called GI JOE the movie that just aint good enough! ....all that being said,I LOVED it when i was a kid!

Not that the comic was flawless, but it definitely stayed closer to home for me than the Movie/cartoon did.
I don't have a problem with the new movie being live action, as long is it is done well, and not so "over the top" as some of the "comic book" movies that have been made over the last few years. It has to be Transformers minus John "Jar Jar" Tuturro and Anthony "I'm only here because I'm a witty/chubby hacker guy who knows Morse code" Anderson. |

I didn't watch the movie until I was in college. I hated it. Cobra-la was one of the dumbest things I had ever heard of, and the Roadblock/CC incident was just assinine. If had had scene it when I was younger, I think it would have ruined GI Joe for me. I quit collecting when they started the dayglo line of figures anyway, but this was almost sacrilege.

Any movie where Snake Eyes gets his overrated butt handed to him by a plant is ok by me. (Oh lord, I'm gonna get it now.)
