I'm all for troop building, and so is Hasbro! Why else would they release Vipers and BATS in 2 waves back to back? Or sets like Cobra Legions, Red Ninjas or Night Watch Troops.
Besides, I'd love for some army builders to come by here. I need these Vipers gone from the shelves! Seriously, here's the break down from the last times I counted the closest stores near me #1 Wal-Mart - 19 Vipers #2 Wal-Mart - 3 Vipers TRU - 6-7 Vipers I mean TRU!? Come on! Take my Vipers, please! |

Armies are meant to have troops. Vipers, troopers etc, need to be displayed in multiples. In my opinion, any non individual figures look stupid displayed as a single. Non openers will never understand army building, just as I will never understand buying things and never opening them. The money I save by not caring about a black timber or yellow stalker will go to buy Cobra troops. In the end army building sells figures which help to keep the line going. Why is it any better to buy 2 of every figure to keep on card in hopes of reselling them later at a profit, than it is to buy a lot of figures, open them and enjoy them? I assume every one is having a hard time finding Vipers and Troopers, right? Otherwise this would not be an issue. It seems the figures who are hardest to find are not even the army builders, they are like Flash or Flint. No one makes an army of Flashes. Besides, it's a hell of a lot HARDER to find what you want when you army build. If you only want one of each figure, good for you, buy a case and you're done. Imagine trying to find 10 BATs! People who do not army build have nothing to complain about, it's easy as hell to get one of each figure. Don't blame other collectors if you are too cheap to pre-order online. I've accepted the fact that I will not have any Snow Serpents until the multi-packs come out in November. I have my 4 BATs on pre-order with BBTS, I don't expect to see them for months either. It is only difficult finding figures when you have to have them NOW. Pre-order and wait and you can have everything you want. What's the rush? Especially when you are just going to throw them in the closet until one day when you can take them out and sell your "complete" collection. No one who enjoys collecting these figures should EVER complain about some one else buying "too many". If it wasn't for army builders boosting the sales, this line may never have even gotten to this point. NEVER complain about people who's actions are in part ensuring that the figures you want continue to be made.
P.S. I know my opinion is a bit judgemental (as most opinions are) but the title of the thread basically says Good or Bad? My Opinion is . . . its ok, just don't let it consume you. And lastly . . . being a trans fan, Do you know how much I've always wanted to army build sharkticons? Back then at 9.99 each would've killed my parents bank account, nowadays the KO's at sixty dollars each, is out of the question. |

Don't get me wrong, scalpers really bother me and people who army build figures, I can't even find gets on my nerves.
But this is America, first come first serve, if you want something go get it. I'm still just baffled why there aren't more of these figures! Is it Hasbro, lowering production to boost intrest further? (You want what you can't have.) Do they get a kick out of ebay scalpers? Or is it the retailers, are they just not supporting the line? My Target has one peg of G.I. Joes, that's it. Maybe it's all a conspiracy. |

seeing a guy at the last comic con in kc selling a destroy figure for 50 dollars (its just a normal destro) and everytime i go and do my rounds 1 or 2 times a month i go to target walmart toys r us and sometimes kmart and everytime i go i never find anything i go to all those places and i am lucky to find 1 or 2 figures im looking for. its becauses the scalpers and the jerks that buy them just to resell and a retarded price to someone who does not know any better! I have been looking for just a few bats and bubble trouble and major blud for weeks now!! i have not even started on the wave 9 figures or anything else recently to come out i stoped army building on my troopers because the bazooka and air troopers are coming soon and i have ...Alot... of troopers..anyway this is my first post and i think i got ahead of myself. MASS army building (more then 50 to 100 is ok beyond that yea its bad =)

Army Build as much as you want. God bless America!
Let's hope Hasbro, will work out their distribution problems. Having Vipers peg warming in one part of the country, while people scour the city in another part of the country is a big problem. Almost as much of a problem as the lack of supply of fan favorite figures. Thankfully we're starting to see some smart decisions like a "Green Shirts" battle pack, and the Hall of Heroes figures, but I hope they don't overlook such obvious successes as a making a decent Dr. Mindbender figure with adequate supply, or putting together a BAT battle pack. - Tom |

If army building wasn't 'legit' then we'd never have the official army-building packs we have had. I did it as a kid and don't plan on stopping now. "Right" or "wrong" barely apply in this situation.

Who cares, there buying the product, there lining Hasbros pockets and giving them the reason to make such great figures as play-doh Cobra Commander and Duke Arms again and again and again.

i think 10 of a figure is a good amount. hasbro just needs to quit dicking around and start producing more. its fun to see peoples army's but it does piss me off when someone comes along and takes everything off the pegs for people who just want 1 or 2 of that figure. scalpers are the worst though. i hate how they buy everything. i havnt ever witnesed it. but ebay is a good example. its rediculous that people are paying 20 bucks for one bats. quit putting profits in scalpers hands and you might start seeing less of them.

thats a really good subject to bring up. I have to say i army build like many other collectors out there. But I think some of you guys have gotten out of control (just mho). For instance i know there is a tanker on here that has 100 BATS. As sweet as that is who really needs 100 BATS? I mean honestly. Now I know what your thinking too....who needs to buy gi joe figures in the first place. Well none of us do but we all enjoy it for one reason or another and its a fun thing to do. I talked with a friend of mine the other day and he agree's w/me on this matter. The reason its so hard to find figures in the store is because of all the army building going on. Myself I try not to buy more than 10 of any given figure. I have 6 Vipers and 2 more still on the card awaiting to be removed from their plastic prison. I do have 12 CG's which I will probably eventually get rid of at least a few as I know I don't need all of them. I guess what I'm getting at here is that I think it is perfectly fine to army build but in moderation. Hasbro obviously isn't making enough of these to satisfy everyone and its hard to get what you want if you got someone buying 100 bats or 50 vipers etc etc. I army build vehicles to but only certain ones. I want maybe a total of 5 hiss tanks. If they release a red one I'd get 1 of them and 4 regular hiss tanks. Kinda see what I'm saying. If everyone things about other collectors in the community then we can all have a nice army and have fun. So next time your army building think...do i really need to get 25 hiss tank drivers or can I settle for say 5. Thats just my 2 cents on the matter.
