Like I said, I want to, but I don't have any means to get my hands on them except to buy them without reading them first, and I don't want to do that unless I know I like them. The only library even remotely close to me with a copy of the trades is 30 miles from where I live.
However, if I see the first volume for a really good price, I'll probably just get it anyway. Check out their comics section. JMM's G.I. Joe Comics Home Page - Home Jmms site has everything you wanna know about the Marvel/DDP series too. |

Well, in my mind the GI JOE I grew up with is over. Resolute is a satisfactory end to the cartoon and comic.
So, whatever they choose to do with any movies or cartoons really doesn't matter to me. hopefully I will like them like Renegades, and have some dumb fun with them like the movie. I'm mostly concerned with the toys now, and hope they continue to push out interesting and cool designs like we have seen recently.

Welcome aboard ! Glad to see someone join that's looking forward to what's coming!
For me, It's the original ARAH run of comics, still going now with Hama at IDW, The first DDP series and the Resolute cartoon. That's GIJoe to me. Strangely enough I would say don't base your opinion of the ARAH comic on the first volume of collected issues (1 -10). GIJoe was a differenet entity at that point in time. It's only when Destro, Zartan and Major Bludd got involved and things started getting interesting with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow that the real unique essence of what makes GIJoe really bloomed. I'd say volumes 3, 4 & 5 are the absolute pinnacle (Issues 21 -50). Likewise DDP started off weak and got really good around issue 20 or so and stayed strong until it's early demise. I wouldn't recommend America's Elite. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy actually. It's not really GIJoe. Regardless of what you see, read or collect, hope you enjoy it!

Welcome !
Always great to see a new perspective of a new G.I Joe fan. While it has gone through many incarnations some great and others not so.Whatever joy G.I.Joe brings to to you that is a good thing. I am still fan of more the Marvel run and the Sunbow cartoon but I have enjoyed both Resolute and Renegades versions as well. Mostly just a collector of the toys but the new stuff on the horizon has excited for what lies ahead G.I.Joe. Enjoy your stay and have fun.

amazon.com usually has good prices on trade paper backs of the IDW marvel reprint run. or you might get lucky here on the tank if someone has some to sell.
i recently bought and read up to #8 of the IDW marvel reprint run. good stuff. sunbow will always be joe to me. funny, corny, with some interesting ideas and twists, 100% awesome.
