Hello, fellow Tankers!
I have made a few posts so far, but wanted to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself. I currently live in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, with my understanding wife and 2 children - boys, ages 3 and 8 months. I started collecting GI Joes in the early 80's, and have extremely fond memories of buying, receiving, and playing with my them back then. I stopped collecting in the early '90s when other things took priority. I began collecting again when I happened to be at TRU with the family and saw a single hooded CC on a shiny new card, with the 25th anniversary logo on it. I had no idea Hasbro was bringing the line back in full force like they did, so all at once my youth flashed before my eyes and I haven't been the same since - neither has my bank account. I still have all my old Joes from the '80s, but the USS Flagg and Tactical Battle Platform were casualties - the cardboard box they were packed in never closed properly, allowing the cats to get in and use it as a litter box. As far as the 25th Joes, I have at least 2 of everything, including comic packs, exclusives, and vehicles - I keep 1 unopened and open the other so either I can display it or my son can play with it. I have a yellow Stalker MOC, and am only missing both Pimp Daddy Destros, Rowdy Roddy Piper, and the black Timber Snake-Eyes variant. I will soon be posting pictures of my collection, because I thoroughly enjoy looking at all of your amazing displays and collections. That is one of my favorite things about this site - seeing that there are others who are as obsessed as I am. Two things about me that you don't know are: (1) I never really got into collecting any other types of toys besides GI Joe, and (2) I have never customized a figure. But again, I love to see all of your collections and I am constantly amazed at the attention to detail you all have when customizing figures! I find it fascinating, especially because these new figs seem much more difficult to take apart! But keep up the good work, and please keep posting pictures! Sorry about the length of the rant here, but now you know me. And knowing is half the battle . . . |
