I keep seeing 2 things,
1. People take an X-Acto knife & cut the bubble clean off 2. People rip the bubble off & save the card back. But I never see anybody do what I do. I take a letter opener & gently separate the top, right & bottom of the bubble & leave the left side connected. This way I can remove the figure & then later put it back on the card & it will look like it's MOSC. For example, here are a few of my Star Brigade figures. It looks like they're all MOSC but I can remove them any time I want. They've all been out of the package many times. Here's another one: Doing it this way has a few advantages: 1. you can store all the unused accessories in the original packaging. So you won't forget what part goes with which figure. 2. You can prevent paint wear by putting it back in the package for protection instead of tossing it in a box with other figures. 3. If you ever want to sell it you can sell it as MOC instead of loose & beat up. I just don't understand why people destroy the bubbles & save the card backs. Hope this helps. Especially if you want to open a SDCC exscrewsive like Zarana. Last edited by Steelgrave; 07-27-2011 at 12:16 AM.. |

It's also great for customs!
There's Raginspoon's clear blue B.A.T. (the rest are mine). I'm so glad I didn't destroy the packages. |

Dude, that's cool! I really like your custom BATS.
I am one of those who use the exacto knife. I don't keep bubbles because they take up too much space. And if I want something MOSC, I just keep it MOSC. I don't put my customs back in like that. However, I really like your method. I probably won't use it, but I like it for your customs.

I've always opened my carded figures like this, ever since I started collecting again with POTF Star Wars.

Hmmm, that's a cool method! Especially for those customs. I normally put my accessories into a drawer in one of those "many-pull-drawered shop-thingies", and stack up the cardbacks because I have NO room.
Totally unrelated: I never knew there was a Star Brigade figure named "Predacon" ( a la Transformers/Beast Wars Transformers). Cool! |

I still use a sharp ass pocket knife and use your same cut line... but like some others have said I have ran out of room, so now I just keep the file card and discard the rest of the packaging.
I see your point though... it does look killer for customs. Nice work there for sure.
