So there's a good chance more will show up on HTS again sometime soon?

This is my first ever post on this website. I felt I needed to contribute for this particular topic. I've been reading the posts about yesterday's clusterf**k here and at the other websites. For those that don't know, I'm also a big Masters of the Universe (He-Man) fan. I've been buying the monthly figures from the Mattel website (MattyCollector) every single month since 2008. It has been a tumultuous experience almost every single month ordering from that website. Anyone else who's ordered from there around the 15th of the month knows about this. It is a virtual battlefield. You deal with the White Screen of Death otherwise known as the WSOD (previously the Red Screen of Death aka RSOD). It occurs when every single collector and scalper on Earth tries to order from the website at the same time and the server's bandwidth just can't handle it. So I kind of knew beforehand what was going to happen yesterday at HTS. It was going to be another virtual battle. I've learned from Mattel reps, online posts, and from just plain experience how to fight this thing.
Now, allow me to give you a rundown of my experience from yesterday. For pretty much most of the morning I was refreshing the HTS website every 15 minutes. At sometime after 11:00 AM EST, the screen refreshes were getting a little slower and a little weirder. It was then that I knew Hasbro was planning on putting up the SDCC exclusives sometime soon. I logged onto HTS immediately. Trust me it saves you one extra step and it could save you from a possible downfall during checkout. You don't believe me then check the forums over at the He-Man.org website. I kind of remember that the SDCC exclusives went up on the site sometime before 12:00 PM. I don't remember exactly because as soon as I saw the SDCC link on HTS, I only saw RED. I started refreshing violently and opening up multiple windows and just doing the exact same thing with each one. It was "Hell or High Water" and it was just non-stop fighting. I finally broke through and started ordering the Zaranas. To Hasbro's credit, the limit was ONE figure for each version. I know cause I tried ordering more. I encountered the same problem everyone else did during checkout BUT I didn't stop. I just kept on fighting and refreshing until my order finally went through at sometime after 12:00 PM. I was basically forced to do this as a result of last year's experience. I actually consider this year better than last year in terms of the exclusives. At least everything was made available at the same time. Remember that last year everything from the SDCC exclusives went up EXCEPT the Sgt. Slaughter figures. The two versions were initially posted up as "Sold Out." They weren't made available until days after that initial post-convention Monday. I was f**king ANGRY because if you weren't online at that exact moment you were out of luck. I missed out on both Sgt. Slaughter figures which I REALLY wanted. Zarana is not even my favorite Dreadnok but because of last year, I was fully prepared for yesterday's war to get those figures. |

I believe they already showed up earlier today. I read other tankers saying they spotted CS Zarana, Starscream and Death Star sets showing up this morning.

I knew this would happen. Good on HTS to stick to the 1 per customer rule. |

I won the Zaranas at COIL Con, and I ordered up the Skystriker early, so all I was there to grab was Indiana Jones...unfortunately it added to the bandwidth usage. :-(

I was able to get both the regular and the variant Zarana and the Starscream from HTS. I placed a second order for another pink Zarana with some other figures to use for custom parts. I'm wondering if the second one will go through... hmmmm, we'll have to wait and see...

All I wanted was a Star Scream Sky Striker and somehow I got one with almost no issues.
I count myself as extremely lucky and am just about as surprised as anyone else that it worked out for me. |
