Ah yes, the air is THICK with nostalgia.
I lived in small town U.S.A., a town so small you could ride your bike from one end to the other in minutes. Well anyhow, we had a ACE store in town and down in the basement they converted that into a toy store. Oh man what a wonderland that place used to be :o. The year was 1984/85 and I can recall as a young lad going down there and seeing the walls covered in G.I. Joe's and Transformers. I was HOOKED immediately since the cartoons were already the coolest thing ever. I don't know what Joe was my first but I do know that when I got my first it was like an avalanche after that. Roadblock or Snake Eye's might have been my first, I think it's Snake Eye's cause till this day I think he is the coolest character ever made. With Stormshadow, Zartan, Firefly a close second. Then Roadblock, Blowtorch, Commander.........the list is goes on and on. I remember getting a paper route just so I could use that money to buy more Joe's. LOL Then to think of the countless HOURS I spent playing in my room with friends. Then all the times I would take vehicles outside when the elements called for a specific army to be deployed. Like having the Cobra Wolf going head to head with the Joe's Snow Cat when the smell of newly fallen snow is still so fresh. Or taking out the motorized tanks when your done making forts out of dunes of sand, mud, and rock. ............................I gotta go. For some reason I have the sudden urge to take my Son outside for a lesson in G.I. Joe play. Last edited by DAHUNTER; 10-08-2007 at 08:12 PM.. |

My first Joes were the strait arm Breaker and Zap waaaaayy back in 1982-ish. Then Snake-Eyes and Scarlett. I remember that she didn't have holes in her feet like all the rest.
My mom was single, we were hella poor, but she still managed to get me toys.

Great collection. My story is similiar to yours, while away at college my Mom gave away my Joes and sold the rest in yard sales. I have recently started putting the team back together. Buying them at flea-markets or E-bay. Hope to have a collect as sweet as yours one day. My favorite are the Orig 8. The first Joe I ever had was Flash. I still need to find some of them, Scarlett and Stalker among them. Found Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander on line for $12.00 good buy I thought. If you can help with the finding of the orig figures that would be great. Looking for figures with swivel arm grip.

The funny thing to do now is take your parents onto ebay and show them just how much money they gave away with your old Joe collection ;) . They then realize that they were not just toys. :P lol You did get a nice deal on those figs, they can go for a bit more sometimes. If I run into extras I'll lyk. M. |

Sigh... if only I had a time machine. |
