I've been going though my trading cards to organize some of my double for selling and have decided its time for an all new Joe trading card set.
Not a game, not playing cards but something awesome and done well. A cross between the old Impel set or the old Marvel Masterpiece sets. Knowing that full paintings of characters might prove somewhat...difficult. What I'd like to see is a bunch of cards that break into 9 card sets that combine to feature a bunch of characters and maybe some vehicles, so that we can pack in as many characters as possible and toss in some new Comic Images style from Hasbro's Vault of unproduced items. Maybe even toss in a few chase cards sets of creators, like Larry Hama, Ron Rudat, a few others an maybe a voice actors sub set....yeah I think that would be a pretty cool set. |

Though this would be amazing, with everything else going down the drain, this will not happen.

A new set would be cool. The Impel cards are good but to me it seems like they spent way too many cards focusing on comics and not enough on characters and vehicles. I mean what the hell, no Lady Jaye card? or Jinx?
What would really be cool is if Hasbro decided to do what Playmates did back when they were releasing Star Trek figures and include the card with the toy. It could show the full character art on the front and the reverse side could be the new filecard - something small like the RoC/PoC ones but directly inspired by the old ARAH ones. It would be a lot better than getting the same wave 1/2 "Urban Strike" poster over and over again. |

I would love to see it but I don't think its likely. If anything, we could see movie tie in cards if it makes money but again its pretty unlikely because the cards wouldn't appeal to every Joe fan and they would have to be expensive to make a profit. Also I think retailers are going to be pretty cautious with movie product this time around.

Anyone remember that trading card game that came out around the same time Valor vs. Venom was out?

Do they even make trading cards anymore of things other than sports? I know there are a million different game oriented sets, but I was under the impression that the licensed card market was completely dead?

That's kinda one of the reasons why...I mean its currently a market ripe for a good set.
Card games have faded, sports cards are well they pretty much run more or less consistantly, so a really good Joe card set would be awesome. |

A new Clone Wars TCG just launched, so people must think there is a market for them. Pokemon seems to be trucking right along with Black/White, and the trading card wall of Target always seems to have kids (and some adults) digging around in it... So maybe Joe cards could be a hit. I now I would buy a pack or two...
