I've run across two GI Joe: A Real American Hero children's books from the mid-80s. I have to say, I really dig the art work here:
I'd love to get my hands on more of these. According to yojoe.com, there's a bunch out there: YOJOE.COM | Books and Audio Recordings Many are out of print...Before I invest the money in hunting them down, I'd thought I'd ask first if anyone here have these, either a digital copy or a hard copy, that they would be willing to scan and share? I have "Operation Raging River" and "Operation Star Fight" in cbr/jpg format if you're interested.

I used to have an old choose your own adventure book. Starred Dusty, Quick Kick, and Lady Jaye. The cover was sick it had QK kicking a cobra in the face. I have absolutely no idea what happened to it though :(.

I have two of them: The Trojan Gambit and Operation: Disappearance. They are original 13 stories so you don't see Destro or Vipers, just the Baroness and Cobra troopers. Very kid friendly books.

I don't think I knew of any of his work until yesterday...but yeah, to know his work is to love it. Very classic styling, very dramatic and dynamic posing. I'm on a mission to find more of his work.

I own the series of young adult GI Joe novels. Paid a pretty penny for them. They were impossible to find! Good books and focuses on less utilized characters.

I used to have Operation Star Fight. It's pretty violent for a kids book (especially when compared to the cartoon) now that I think about it. No blood, but the illustrations clearly show people getting shot or being thrown off the space shuttle gantry to fall to their presumed deaths.
Another curious thing about Operation Star Fight is that Low-Light is shown in the illustrations as being part of the team that's trying to kick Cobra out of NASA's Cape Canaveral compound, but he isn't mentioned at all in the text and he doesn't get any dialogue. It's as if the artist just drew him in for kicks (and he's featured prominently in just about every page, IIRC, which makes it that much odder that the text treats him as if he wasn't there at all... I don't think he's even mentioned when they do a roll call). |

LOL, you're right...The text even makes a point of saying "...as Hawk, Roadblock, Mainframe, and Airtight enter the shuttle..." The artist must have REALLY loved Low-light.
