Man I hear a lot of dissing of the JvC SpyTroops and Valor vs Venom days. You guys really missed out on a really great time in Joe collecting. I had alot more fun collecting Joes back in those days. It was like a dream, New Snake Eyes Figures! New Cobra Commander with removable hood and battle helmet! New Storm Shadow and Firefly! New everbody! New sculpt Joe figures come out and "Meh"? your not into it? Are you kidding me? How can a Joe fan not be all over that? I don't know, I'm and old school Joe fan this kind of thing is what I was waiting for! It was the first time you could army build! I was smashin every neo viper and tele viper I could get my hands on! Cobra troops in diffrent colors variants! New characters! New Vechicles! Sure lots of the figures had some crazy proportions, but some were awesome plus that was the age of custimizing and JvC, Spy Troops, and VvV gave us mad meat to work with! You could make perfect versions of your favorite characters.I defenetly loved a lot of those figures just how they were though. I'm just reminiscing going through my stuff today and came across my early 2000's crew. Oh well, somday I'll see customs of these guys all over the place and talked about like their classics and were never scoffed at, their time just hasn't come around yet.

I agree for the most part. I was all over the VvV o-ring figures and 6packs. I love the repaints of the Vipers in green and purple etc. Got the Cobra trooper, CG, Shadow Guard, and several more of the 6 packs. they are pretty awesome.
I don't really like the DTC figures tho. Those strange body sculpts were just too much for me. Oh, the Python Patrol and TF 6 packs were AMAZING!!

This is irony, right?
IMHO, The two packs of figures was cool. But it was the out of whack body proportions, & chunky Fisher Price baby toy vehicles that were a turn off. It wasn't till the end when the Dr. Mindbender wave, & the Humvee was released that I wanted to pick up collecting again. |

I was tempted many times when I went to TRU to look for stuff for my brothers-in-law to buy Joe items. It was during those periods. But I was in med school and I didn't have any extra money and I really wasn't into it at that time. When the 25th stuff came out, I went back and took a look at stuff, but with the 25th stuff out, I realized that I just wasn't into the o-ring anymore, not when I saw that the figures could be so much better. Also, if I was going to collect anything older, it was going to be the vintage ARAH stuff. I quit playing with GI Joe in about '88 or so, meaning I missed a lot of stuff up until about 2007. But when I got to looking at the stuff produced after '88, it just didn't hold the same appeal for me as stuff from '82-88. I do have (almost) every Firefly figure ever made, so I have the FF figs from those eras, and they're alright. To each his own, I guess.
