Has anyone else wondered if the purchasing of the new JOES line has put a dent in the STAR WARS figures collectibility?
I've noticed that figures that would have been rare for SW before the new JOES came out are easier to find on the pegs. More people forsaking SW figs for JOES as collectibles? People fed up with countless re-makes of the same SW figures? Thoughts? |

Yep, that is the case. I used to be a hardcore star wars guy.I guess I just got tired of the constant repiants and stuff. I always loved my joes and I consider the joes more fun at the moment. I have retired from star wars for a while but I will get that sweet BMF Falcon this years and my BMF does not stand for big milin falcon.......its the other phrase

I stopped collecting star wars all together after the 2007 30th ANV collection. It seems the theme of my toy room has shifted to mostly joes now too. I was pretty tired of the same SW figure being released over and over and over and over. So the 25th line was a great change up for me.

Same here I gave up on SW a while back...cheap molds and all the versions killed me. But I can tell they are starting to make them with more articulation points. I might give them a few more years before I get back in.

I've been collecting the Star Wars line since it started up again in 1995. There was a time when I had to have every single figure, but that all changed with the advent of two things. The 25th Joe line and the price of gas.
Ever since the new Joes arrived I find myself going right to the Joe aisle, or pegs before even thinking of new SW. And, ever since it cost me $500+ a month to keep all my family cars going, that extra spending money has grown smaller and smaller.

Repaint figs killed it for me.
The price of gas. I was bored with the line in general. I now only buy the SW figs, I personally, think are cool. I stopped right before the 30th anniversary. The new falcon coming out is a dream toy, would def buy into that. I too go straight for the JOES section, then double back to SW. I have a few Indy figs I picked up as of late, but thus far am unimpressed with the line. Just wanted an Indy and Belloq. |

I'm a Star Wars collector first and the only reason Joe seems to be selling better, is cuz there is nothing new for Star Wars at the moment. Besides store exclusives, there has been nothing new on the shelves, in my area. But all that will change in July, when all new product hit's the shelves.

I have to admit, I'm not a Star Wars guy by any stretch, but it's interesting to hear that. I didn't realize it, but you guys got nailed pretty bad with the constant remakes of characters, and I thought the seven Cobra Commanders were bad, you guys get a Vader like every wave?
I'm thinking business will pick up when the new show comes out, and maybe when "The Force Unleashed" comes out. |

I don't think it's really the GI Joe figures making the harder SW Stuff easier now ... I think it's the whole Economy......
