I have to admit, in my opinion time has been kind to my fondness of Cobra La. I won't subscribe to the notion of Cobra Commander being a multi-eyed freak or Globulous controlling Dr M to make Serpentor but there is a place for them. I like to use them as Dr Venom's genetically enhanced mutates that were considered a failed "experiment". The creatures were rounded up and brought to the Himalayas to be destroyed. Cobra La managed to gain the upper hand, kill their captures and start life anew.
Cobra Commander and the rest of the Cobra Hierarchy never knew of Dr Venom's perverse experiments to breed super soldiers, it was yet another Secret he took to the grave. Cobra La, is simply Cobra Laboratory created Army

Yeah, I liked Cobra la too, but they kind of made them way to over the top as a supposed superior race. It was like Land of the Lost or the other cool but odd takes on mythology and super scince which was awsome stuff about GI JOE. In the end they were just to easily defeated and what ever happened to them? The movie just ended LOL and the spores were destoyed. Did they put them all in the Pits jail cell? That would be hilarious to see all of those royal gaurds squeezed into that small cell...
Darklon was always odd to me, his vehicles was strange, his heavy faceplate was like Destro in a way, but glowing yellow eyes and all of that, it is like he is a super human or mutant from Cobra La. It is vesible he coul dhave left for his own gains and lust for power and found it within the IGs. Hydro-vipers I thought we genetically engineered or medically altered to perform better int he water. Thier masks are just like regualr latex diving masks but made to look like devilfish, why it is removeable and they have a human head under it. I don't subscribe to them being Cobra La since Dr. Mindbender or Venom with thier equipment coudl easily make the required modifications like the webed hands and gills to regualr eels to make Hydro-vipers. The nullifier fits the Cobra La scheme well in color, design and look. His mask is very insect like and given it has no disernable port holes, he must sue soem sensory abilties to see/manuver the AGP as well as his chitenous looking armor with no unifrom look or color too it. Looks like he could molt into another form or get crushed and squish like an insect! |

Well the best part about GI Joe is that you can play God. If you want Nullifier to be Cobra La, he is. Scrap Iron can be an IG, Duke can die in any battle and you can change it all on a moments notice. If we strictly followed cannon while playing that would take a lot of the fun out it.

I can definitly see Cobra La in the Nullifier, armor is very similar in feel to the Cobra La Warrior. Darklon, I see a little cobrala in him but not enough to convince me. Not a huge fan of Cobra La (I dont mind it though), but I definetly want to see a Pythona, she was the coolest of Cobra La.

I'm pretty sure that Cobra-La is a splinter faction of the Yuuzhan Vong.
At any rate... just because Cobra-La [no matter how you care to develop it] was eventually destroyed doesn't mean it was completely abandoned. Seeing an opportunity to advance his weapons technology, Destro could've gone back to the mountains and launched a salvage operation. |

Yo joe has images of the Nullifier, looking back at them I am not as certain as I was before. They have some humanish looking head under thier bullbous helmet but I dunno. Thier File card reads they have massive physiques and eat grey gelantinous protien meals that taste liek wet cardboard LOL so maybe they are mothras or something lol.

Just because Nullifier has human eyes doesn't mean he wasn't Cobra-La. Obviously Golobulus and other Cobra-La were either partly human or some similar humanoid. It's too bad Pythona didn't get made in the o-ring comic pack era. |
