The upcoming Sci-Fi, Lifeline, Kwinn, the POC Lowlight and Wave Three Snake Eyes... I would consider all of these to be "definitive" editions of the characters.
If you could give Hasbro the perfect recipe for the definitive version of a character - what would it be? Here are a couple to get started: HAWK He should come with blond hair. He has on standard green camo pants - and a standard green button up shirt. A removable holster goes over the shirt. If you remove the holster, you can put on his removable brown leather jacket - which has a holster sculpted into it also. If you remove the leather jacket - he also comes with a second coat that you can put on him... a dress uniform coat - similar to the 2004 VvV edition. He will come with a helmet with goggles, an officer's hat - and also a second head with sculpted on sunglasses and hat like the 1991 version. For weapons, he will include a couple pistols, and a big revolver like the 1991 version. ROADBLOCK First and foremost - Roadblock will be sculpted to look like he looks in the Marvel comics. Big, huge, 350 lbs and 7'6" tall. He will come sculpted with his classic muscle shirt and orange pants. He will include a Red and White padded jacket to give him his 1985 look... and a green turtleneck sweater to give him his 1991 look. Comes with a super-detailed and painted 50 caliber browning... with detailed bullets. |

How are you describing "definitive" and what are you comparing it to?
For instance while the POC Low-Light was a great figure I wouldn't exactly call it the "definitive" version of Low-Light because his outfit doesn't exactly match the outfit of the ARAH V1 Low-Light which is what I would want to compare it to. Don't get me wrong because I'm grateful to Hasbro for releasing a Low-Light figure using the modern sculpting, but they could have used some other parts that might have matched up better with the outfit that the ARAH V1 Low-Light had. Since he was released in POC maybe they weren't exactly going for that look though. It's like when they released Scrap-Iron in the 25th comic pack before they released Airborne on a single card. The 25th Anniversary version of Scrap-Iron was made using some of the Cobra Trooper parts when they should have waited and used Airborne parts instead because the ARAH versions shared many of the same parts. Hasbro later showed a sample of a Scrap-Iron which was made using Airborne parts, but it was never released. It might have been the "definitive" Scrap-Iron if it had of been released. I know that Gyre-Viper has posted some pics of this pre-production sample before and it looks pretty close to the ARAH version. Another figure which comes to mind as of late is the upcoming Sci-Fi. Once again I'm very grateful that they are going to release this figure because I though that he was one that might not have even been on their "to do" list, but there are some things that are missing from the sample which was shown, like the black padding on the inner parts of his upper legs. Why couldn't they have added this? Maybe you all might think I'm being too picky, but I would just like Hasbro to try and keep the outfits of these figures looking like the outfits on their original ARAH counter parts as close as possible. This is just my opinion on this matter though.

This thread is a massive arguement waiting to happen...
I agree Sci-Fi and Low Light are definitive versions. Based on the originals and slightly upgraded, perfect. Zarana falls into this as well, so does Airtight. Lifeline? Maybe, once I throw away the stupid parachute they have him strapped up with. Wave 3 Snake Eyes? No way. It's an okay figure but it doesn't say Snake Eyes to me. It kinda says old '82 Snake Eyes, but that's not the Snake Eyes I know and love, that would need to be based on v2. Also: Just to show you how this is all opinion and can be very opposite, your idea of a definitive version of Hawk is my idea of the ultimate crap version of Hawk. '86 Hawk IS Hawk. That's the definitive version. Don't want him being blond either. Sorry.

I don't know, I don't even think Kwinn should have been remade. I also think there are a lot of other figures that deserved an update before tracker Kwinn.
Sometimes I just don't get Hasbro it took 20 years for them to make the 1st Kwinn and now within a few years we get him twice but still no Pythona. Just like what does Hasbro have against Sparks if it wasn't for the club putting him in a box set we'd still be waiting for him. I can't understand why we still have not gotten even a maybe on Pythona or a mutated Cobra Commander from the movie but we got FN Big Lob. Night Force Falcon which was a really easy re-paint gets the ax, but were getting Kwinn and Zarana with a cold slither variant? I like what Hasbro is doing these days and I'm not trying to say I dislike Hasbro because I don't I love hasbro Just every once in awhile they leave me scratchin my head in dis belief |

the wave 4 poc SE is by far, hands effin down the best version so far in my opinion, he comes with the best swords, and the silencer on the gun is a nice detailed touch, the fig itself is flawless, i dig the extra head choice and man the fig just has impressive written all over it. the only other version that is right there next to it for me is the wave 8 se from the modern line, both these versions are killin it.
as for hawk i think the 5 pack version was good enough, dont really feel he needs anymore doing. he was never that exciting of a fig as a toy anyway. i dont know what everyones obsession with kwinn is but he is a lame ass figure, seriously, effin kwinn? lowlight got justified in my opinion, hasbro did a fantastic job with him. poc spirit is amazing as well, he just looks so bad ass.

I'd like a definitive Roadblock
Resolute one was ok, since it looks like the old version, but modernized. But the figure itself looks...skiny. I dig the big, fat version, probably something more like RoC Heavy Duty torso. Billy! Dammit they released Kwinn, so billy is next. The Snake Plissken look is ok for him. Parts would be simple too. (a Storm Shadow-suit Billy variant would be killer) Gung Ho. Please. Every single version of him it's horrible. Well, not horrible, but fail. Closest thing would be PoC Recondo, but get rid of the weird lower arms. Footloose. C'mon...just Kwinn torso and arms with some cargo pants. That simple.

I think the reason we're getting Kwinn over Pythona is because a lot of fans seem to want Kwinn.
Look how many customs of him show up in search. I've only ever seen 4 or 5 for pythona. Hasbro is obviously looking on this site for ideas. thats why we got Sgt Slaughter, Zarrana, Low Light, kwin, Lifeline, and Sci Fi. I mean come on.....how would Sci Fi even fit in POC? his costume is lime green!! This was definitely for the fans. The only way I see us getting a Pythona...is as an exclusive like Zarana.

The man's name is Kwinn, not Quin. We are getting him over Pythona because he is one of the greatest characters ever developed by Larry Hama (the greatest "non Joe or Cobra"). Kwinn also was there from the beginning (Issue #2), so it's about time we get an accurrate version of him. Pythona, while cool as a female villain, is a bit player in the GI Joe universe.
