With the recent events here in the south. We are in despret need of things. My family was very fortunate for the tornado to curve away from us and miss us by a few miles. Responding to calls as a volunteer firefighter, and seeing areas that where hit by the tornado and storms was heartbreaking. People have lost homes and some have even lost everything. My family recently donated and have seen food, clothes, water and other stuff is being donated(thank you). What i saw lacking besides baby diapers and wipes, was TOYS, yes TOYS. Now i know its one of the least thing on peoples mind and not really a need, but in fact it is. Think about it, these folks have lost everything. Yes food, clothing, and shelter is vital, but what do the kids do outside of sleeping, eating, and school? They play, and with some churches and shelters not having computers, or video games, or other items, wouldnt it be nice for the kids to have something to play with? Imagine if we donated joes to kids in need, imagine how that would make there day? How that would make them feel that whenever theres trouble, G.I Joe was there. Something to at least help, even for ten minutes, that can get there minds off of what they went through. If you like the idea, i hope we can get something together, if you dont like it, please dont bash, most dont know what these people are going through.
So please let me know what you think. Im going to donate my POC wave 6 Croc Master and some other joes and toys. I hope others will too. Thank You for at least reading this. P.S. The Odinson is from Tuscaloosa, anybody know if he and other tankers are ok?

I live in Northport (a suburb of Tuscaloosa). I donated 6 boxes of various loose action figures on Friday, in addition to shoes, food, and other clothing. My girlfriend made the donations for me. She said some kids immediately started playing with them at the shelter. They gave a baby one of the Pooh bears I donated. After a shit-tastic week that these people have had, I know that was a welcome distraction from the hell they have endured.
A lot of shelters my gf went to were turning away donations because they had too much, but a couple of places were actually storing extra stuff for future need down the road after the initial good will is gone. I'm going to buy some diapers and formula this week and donate it. I usually donate a lot for Toys for Tots at Christmas. It will be needed greatly around here this year. I donated loose toys right now, and will continue to donate new toys later this year.

Hi guys,
I am from Connecticut but was down in Huntsville during the storm. I work for a large defense contractor and was just outside of Redstone Arsenal at the time. Seeing the destruction driving up 33 towards Nashville the day after left images in my head that I will never forget. I am going to work with my community outreach team up here and co-ordinate something to send down. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. -Chris |
