Alright, like the title says... hidden Joe's.
I've heard of people hiding Joe's to save and buy them later, but how many of you have hidden Joe's (peg warmers) to force the stores to put out new stock? I recently (4 weeks ago) did this as our local Target had over 20 Jungle Vipers warming the pegs. I took 10 and "deposited" them in a random location in the store under a shelf. Sure enough, two new cases were brought out and I finally scored my first two Shock Troopers. So ethics aside, anyone else done this? EDIT How many are even reading this before posting? For the record I'm not supporting hiding or hiding to save for later or if you can't buy it stash it. I'm not keeping anyone from buying something that isn't already there. For those who don't do math: 20-10= 10 Thats 10 left of the shelf of the same figure. Last edited by Akunin; 05-01-2011 at 01:34 PM.. |

I hide figures just so I can get them later. I am not made of money. I do not want to have to drive all the way clear to the next town just to find out if they have a certain figure. Gas sucks, so hiding figures just means I am using the store as my own personal layaway. It may hurt their inventory, I just can't always buy the figures I want on the same day.

Now lets say there is 36 figures on the shelf. Minus the 20 JV's, 16 is left. So the worker will count the 16 in the system and that is how many remains. The JV's are now what is now known, to me, as the negatives. If the store finds them, then immediately sells all of the 16 plus 20 within a very short time. The system will then give an on hand count of -20. Of course, who really cares. Screwing up inventory is not my concern anymore than when I had to deal with it when I worked in Toys. |

I did that a few weeks ago. As a few JV have sold I've replaced them with the "hidden stock", I think I'm down (lol, like its my store) to about 4 hidden JV's now. So, the way I see it I'm helping them sell the product instead of just sitting on a bunch. I worked at Target years ago and when I would notice something not selling I would rotate stock to push out newer stuff and slowly work in the old. Worked out well but its a lot of work for people who just want to walk around and txt on the stores dime.

I totally understand why someone would hide a couple to pick up in the next couple days but when it gets to the point that they have a stash like this thats just stupid. ()
I don't stash any even though I have to drive over 120 miles round trip for the nearest Joe anything. I do most of my buying online when I can or through trades. Major Blood saved my kids Christmas by hooking me up with a few hard to finds and the thought of some backstock horder hiding these so my kid (or any kid) couldn't buy them just pisses me off. |

from personal experience working with them they get excused for being hidden, stolen, relocated in the store for a feature, lost in the stock room and when they do their manual peg count they take a tally as to how much they need and when they can't be found for restock they can be ordered to replenish.
